I have a lot of success throwing top water this time of the year. I switch between larger walking style baits and walking a popper. Popping baits- River2Sea Bubble Walker - Yozuri 3D popper - Lucky Craft popper. Walking baits- Berkeley Cane Walker- River2Sea gun fish- Heddon Super Spook.

North East Texas here. Full moon a few nights ago. I got out there an hour before sun up, and I've never seen that many shad in my life. They had shad piled up on the sea wall for 15 straight docks. About a mile long. Was crazy to see all the giants chasing all the bait. Couldn't get one to bite but man was it fun to watch and hear..

Fishing the snake river last weekend using a jerkbait catching over 80 bass myself in a day and over a 100 in the 3 days, over 300 between the three of us. They averaged over 2lbs and nothing over 3,5 lbs. We did catch a few with crankbaits, spinners. Last year at the same time we caught bass mainly with crankbaits and a few with a jerkbait. Here in Oregon the baits you mentioned are working wellfor me but I am just a weekend fisherman, lol, love your advise as well, P.S. Taylor Swift is easy on the eyes forsure.

Hi Jacob on your 5 baits for May I have always did very well with a weight less senko in green pumpkin or a Merthiolate . Both or those colors I dip the tails in chartreuse for the green pumpkin and red for the mathiolate . Thanks for all the information and good luck at Guntersville

The Accent Spinnerbait is such a good tuned Spinnerbait. Here in Nebraska a few days ago, caught one on the Accent Spinnerbait getting ready to spawn, 5lb 12oz - 21.5”. Heavy stained water so I used the white/chart with dual Indiana blades with a orange blade, on a transition point from the main body to a creek channel. Thanks for the info J Dubs, you’re the GOAT of my generation. Awesome to see you grow your channel/content, and only get better and better as a Pro every year.

So I have found that the Ned rig with a 3 to 4 inch tube worm is great in central Indiana this time of year. Don’t have a ton of drop offs in our reservoir, but it’s been really great off of the points, the backs of docs, and to skip under any cover.

Something that has grown on me lately and caught me some bigger fish is the 6th Sense Speed Glide 100mm in Spanish bone color. Walking that back and forth around laydowns is awesome during the shad spawn. They smoke it without hesitation.
@DavidMccallister65 Жыл бұрын
That's my exact drop shot setup EXCEPT, I'm with DC on the lead weight. Tungsten is so sensitive that every rock you hit feels too much like a bite but when I use lead, I can still detect rocks and hard bottom but it creates a greater distinction between hitting cover and getting a bite! This is so crucial also when they're acting weird and just mouthing the bait or barely biting it. In that situation it can be so hard to tell the difference in bumping a rock or getting a bite even I'm using tungsten.

Speaking of the jersey bait, I caught 41 bass on a Rapala classic floater the last heat spell we had. After the cold front hit a week later, I only caught 6. So I’m in az and a huge A.Mart fan just cause of his creativity in being able to adapt in very pressured situations and one thing that I’ve noticed was when he tells that blackbird story on havasu I think it was so one day I thought of the ducks in the couple bigger ponds here in az, and then I saw how the bigger bass will eat the small baby ducks (sad I know) but crawling style baits are big fish magnets one of my faves is the jackall pompadour this bait also works good when there’s lots of turtles in the lake I’ve noticed fishing shallow and throwing right on the bank practically but slow retrieving for a duck pattern and super loud and obnoxious for the turtles lol. They make a smaller one that I like to use for the cicada’s hatching and not as big fish constantly but it’s still a good and violent way to watch them eat. Yamamoto Japan just dropped their own crawler and it’s got a bunch of bird like patterns in the paint jobs but I noticed you throwing a dolive beaver I think it was and I thought if you know OSP then you’d appreciate what info I had to share. I like using a MH with these baits and 16-20 floor cause you can walk some of them but it’s definitely a bait that sounds like the kitchen sink is being thrown at you when they eat it. Love the info my guy. God bless!

It's funny to me how guys think a fish can't find a dropshot in heavy stain. If that fish is alive, it has the ability to find forage in whatever water clarity they're in. I fish super clear water in Arkansas alot. My opinion is its easier to catch fish in dirtier water as their locating with their lateral line rather than their eyes, so you can get away with alot more. I'm no Jacob Wheeler, so any advantage to cover my mistakes is welcome! 😊

You made mention that Bass eyes fail as they get older.... I was under the impression that the Bass's eyesight improved as it aged. Their eyes continue to grow with them as they age. So forth they can see better. With that, when you catch a fish that is 'older' their body size may be down from when they were of a prime age but their eyes are still Big. "Bug Eyed". Humm??????
