Detroiter here: So Stroh's has still been around since the buyout... but everyone over the age of 50 will still swear up and down that the beer has basically been dead since the 70's/80's after one of several recipe changes. It DID get "resurrected" as a more Czech pils style lager by a local craft contract brewer (Brew Detroit) but it wasn't necessarily the "family recipe". Unfortunately, said brand has sorta disappeared too and the only Stroh's being made is the generic macro lager version. Good news is that the Generic Macro Lager version is kinda coming back as the local cheap/hipster beer in Michigan. Also fun fact: a local farmer south of Detroit found wild hops growing in a wood lot in an area that used to grow hops for Stroh's. While he can't confirm that it is in fact the original variety contracted out to Stroh's back in the day, he did get genetic testing done and found that it's closely related to a whole bunch of Saaz-derived hops. It's being sold as "Mystique" via the Michigan Hop Alliance, for any beer geeks interested in it. The farmer, Tom, is an awesome guy and even gave me a tour of his farm one day just out of the kindness of his heart.

When Lloyd Christmas got his Coors Light lifted by the old lady in the motorized cart you missed the best moment in Beer movie history😂🍻We got no food 🍻we got no jobs🍻are pets heads are falling off😂😂😂🍻Also Beerfest was pretty Epic and you are too young to remember Strange Brew but it worked in the early 80s.
