@calebpromusician98Ай бұрын
The Yamaha psrsx900 has more expansions than you think and if you find them near Christmas time they are all free i own the genus 1 and have never had a problem finding styles that work with it and because the psrsx900 uses the same style modual you get all types of styles that people have made for it and it has a very open user community so you do not have to worry about not knowing how to do something because it is all covered in a very high amount of detail that is sure to impress and the voices and dsp give you a unlimited amount of possible sounds however the one thing you need to think about when getting one is that it is still using usb 1.0 so no bigger than 32 gig flash drives are supported and that may be a deal breaker and it does not work with usb hubs so the amount of usb ports you get is what you are stuck with and a keyboard not having a audio interface is not a big deal even though this one does you can get another keyboard and an audio interface for all the same price now however the speakers are for sure better

My newest arranger is keyboard is still my Yamaha PSR-295 that was bought new in 2006, I also have a Casio CT-700 and a Yamaha PSR-18 that belonged to my late maternal grandparents, basically any keyboard with auto accompaniments is an arranger but I won't talk too much about Yamaha Porta Sound keyboards but the PSS-790 also qualifies as an arranger. The Roland Juno DS76 is a workstation not an arranger, the Juno DS76 is ideal for music production whereas the other keyboards are for one man band situations. Last year I very nearly bought a Tyros 5 out of jealousy if I'm brutally honest but I used my so called concern about Halion possibly not working on a future computer as an excuse but I'm glad I didn't in the end even though I had to quit my job to stop myself from foolishly spending over £2,000 of my hard earned cash unnecessarily! Also too many people are of the belief that having the latest flagship arranger is what makes them a good player when in actual fact it's your playing skills that matter more than the keyboard. I have heard keyboard players with a GEM "workstation" that play better music than some people who have a Tyros 5 or a Genos and even somebody who sounded good playing a Yamaha PSS-570. To me arranger keyboards are supposed to be fun!

Are arranger keyboards worth buying if you only want high quality instrument sounds to use in your productions even if your not bothered about the auto accompaniments?
@davidosolo Жыл бұрын
As you can hear, the Pa4x has some very nice high quality sounds and effects build in. However, if you are not interested in the auto accompanying functionality, a workstation or synthesizer would probably be a better choice for you than an arranger keyboard.
@LittleRichard1988 Жыл бұрын
@@davidosolo In October I came very close to buying a Tyros 5 which sounds almost on par with some of the newer Yamaha Motif synthesizers and I also noticed many of Halion's sounds are very similar. The only sort of sounds flagship Yamaha arrangers tend to have that they don't use in their worstations are some of the Super Articulation 2 type instruments, the theatre organs and church organs that are part of "Organworld" and the Shoo bee dooh bob and Gospel voices. But as I resigned in October I couldn't afford to spend thousands of pounds on a new keyboard, in my case I was better off sticking with VST instruments but I have Halion which is a VST workstation based heavily on various Yamaha Motif sounds, I now have Halion 7 which also includes new stuff like FM Lab and a Spectral sampler with timestreatching making it easier to play an acoustic instrument from one sample.
@LittleRichard1988 Жыл бұрын
@@davidosolo Given that I made that comment either just before I was about to buy a Tyros 5 or after I decided not to as a result of my resignation and termination of employment I do now 100% agree that a workstation or synthesizer ( software or hardware ) is better for music production than an arranger. With a workstation you can create any sort of sound you want whereas arrangers have very limited sound editing options. But if you want more realistic sounds Kontakt or EastWest sample libraries are the way to go. However if I was serious and wanted a keyboard that was better than my old Casio CT-700 then maybe a Casio CTX-5000 or Korg EK-50 would be worth considering as I purposely use something like that if I want a more digitized 90s sound like jazz organ but at the same time I would probably prefer a Korg M1r or a Korg 01/W or a Korg 01R/W. I think I will wait until module versions of the Korg M1 and Korg 01 come up on EBay although the M1r and 01R/W are super rare. In short for modern sounds I prefer to use VSTs but 90s PCM sounds better on the original hardware.
@davidosolo Жыл бұрын
@@LittleRichard1988 For music production you would use workstations, synthesizers or VST´s rather than arrangement keyboards, for sure. An arrangement keyboard is more directed towards people that want to perform as a one man band in a live situation or learn how to perform directly songs at home or just do some gigging. It is a lot of fun, but the goal should never be to create the best production. With regard to the Korg M1: the VST sounds just as good as the original synthesizer IMO and might be more convenient.
