I've had many bread machines. The Zojirushi is head and shoulders above all others. The Zojirushi is a serious appliance, much like the Kitchenaid mixer. In comparison, the rest are just toys.

I've got the Panasonic, anyone complaining about the noise has never owned any other breadmaker. Love the Manual settings on it, allows for using a little creativity

I have Oster 2 lb express bake bread machine for about 10 years. I really like it because the quality of bread is always reliable , it is light and I can move on a shelf inside the cabinet, so it doesn’t take space on the counter when I don’t use it, the dough cycle makes a very good dough, and the 12 hr timer is very useful for the delayed baking. It was not expensive, compared to other bread machines, and the compact size was a feature that I was looking for. I highly recommend this bread machine. I love it!

I have opposite experience. I had about five bread machines with Oster being worst. Takes too much work and babysitting to make right bread texture. Not going with Oster anymore. Panasonic was the best one so far. But it got so expensive. Can't find anything around 100$ from Panasonic. No less than $300 now. Considering that regardless the brand name, in about three years they really start to break down, not worth to pay such high price.

Zojirushi has a half loaf size version. Much cheaper and works great!

Does a bread machine exist which can make bread from 2kg of whole wheat berries made into flour ?

noise?

It makes much less noise than all the other bread machines I've had. It reminds me of the dull thud a clothes dryer makes, but softer.
