As someone who owns quite a few pair of G-Shock. Despite all the different series, the functions are generally the same unless you're using it to extreme extends, which is still highly unlikely because there's tools built for that. Else it's just unique in design.

I like these watches and have on my arm right now. The problem is, if you don't use the compass, barometer, etc.. you forget how to activate them. A lot can be said about smart watches, but it does give a better usability.

The issue with solar however is if you are in an area with less sunlight you can’t charge the watch. For example if you are in the northern hemisphere in Alaska they go months with no daylight. How do you charge your solar watch then?

@SKOTxFREE my solar watches go months without sunlight. I work nights in a govt facility with no windows. The light from the building does just enough to keep it awake. Since I don't really wear a watch off duty, it still rubs smooth with minimal sunlight

marcus okay, I found a pretty good watch but for 200$, altough in my opinion it is well worth it as it comes with plenty of features such as Mud resistance, obviously Shock resistance, Compass, Thermometer, Water resistance for up to 200m underwater and Tough Solar(rechargeable by light), the exact model is G-Shock G9300-1. Hope this helps, I tried my best to find most options on a budget.

hi, on the GPR b1000 Rangeman Altimeter 5:04 , what is the difference between 717 & 809?? which one is true? is it 717 or 809 above sea level?? i also have this rangeman, i have calibrated it to 0m & the difference also 0m, but if i walk about 30 meters (normal roads not gaining any altitude) and i saw again the altimeter, the numbers is increasing, it shows 25m & also 25m (difference). is it normal? because many users also have this problem in this watch. Please help :D

MTG is not as sturdy as g-master series like mud master or rangeman. I got a MTG-B1000 and it was broken when I went to ski. After sending back to fix it, it got broken again after 1 month without any reason. It lost its air tight seal, its needles got disarrayed and no matter how I tried to change the date, it won’t move a single bit. Now it is in my drawer forever. I used to think of MRG but now I will keep using my rangeman instead.

I believe any gshock that is not solar powered shouldn't be considered in the top g shocks. Because then your contradicting the idea that g shock is indestructible but then the battery goes out and now is not indestructible anymore lol

You don't need mobile data for GPS. 😄 You doesn't download maps like on your phone when using google maps. GPS is everywhere, allover the world.

I bought one Casio G Shock and wore it 24/7. When it quit working within a year or so, Casio would not do anything about it. That is why I do not buy Casio's watches. I buy Timex and have worn them until all the plastic deteriorated and the buttons were gone (8 years). I am currently wearing Timex 50 lap 100 m Iron Man. Yes the band gave it up within a year but I buy the velcro bands and keep on ticking. I am now using my own created watch band that has quick snaps so the velcro will not damage my pp shirts, etc.
