Cold Steel is all I have. I know about the "Big folding knife makes you smile" feeling. I own a Voyager XL Tanto and Counter Point XL. Those 2, along with my Immortal, stay at home. But I EDC my Voyager Large Tanto (my Street Clothes knife) , SR1 Lite Tanto (my Work Clothes knife), and Counter Point 1 (my Semiformal Clothes/Gentleman's knife). The Voyager knife series is my number 1 favorite, with the Counter Point knife series at number 2. I also own 3 fixed blades, 3 machetes, 2 walking sticks, 19 food prep knives, and many other pieces. Cold Steel has great variety at great prices!

One you left off is the Finn Wolf it's a great fire making and wood carving knife . It's the best budget folding Scandinavian out there. It makes a great work knife for fitting plastic strapping and. Cardboard. I think the Recon would be my #1 followed by my Voyger in BD1 then my Counter Point in BD1 then the Finn Wolf and in fifth the Recon Tanto keychain knife because it's very functional and has the Tri-Ad lock and has the best design for a two finger knife and cuts way above its size

I used to work security for a bit and I carried the Recon 1 every night and it never let me down. I was unarmed security so one of the abusive things I used it for was opening a padlock every morning that you couldn't just pull open, you had to hit it with a hammer or a really good pocket knife. I have to say favorite folder of my life. 10 out of 10

I don’t like buying expensive pocket knives. I typically stick to more budget knives. But on the rare occasion I spend a fair chunk of change on one, it’s something like the ad10.

That’s pretty much my list I don’t have the rajah but the voyager large cli point and two xl clip and vaquero the large is my go to knife almost always to the lawman I’m waiting for my spyderco manix 2 xl to see if that fits in I should get that on the third, I did fill in the voyager handles with resin and sanded it to my specs and so much more comfortable

I have the Cold Steel SR1 Lite and the first thing I did was remove the pocket clip. Cold Steel is a great company but their pocket clips are junk. Thank you for the review, Stassas. 😎👍

4-max elite with the black and green g10 is my favorite cold steel knife. Their s35vn might be the toughest I've used but it may also be the sheer size of the blade adding strength. Bought two.

Awesome list, the only one that I’m missing is the Recon 1 because I’m fishing for the XHP version. I also very recently got the mini Lawman and despite not liking small knives that much, I LOVE this thing.

The american Lawman is like the perfect "non tactical looking" edc. I too have 3. 2 of them with the "paint" removed, as they were earlier models, and one in cts. I also love the pro lite, tuff lite, tri lite (4 inch) Spartan, Code 4, Recon 1, Click-N-Cut, there really isnt a cold steel knife that I do not like. I will also be getting a 4 Max Scout eventually. Though my love love is my Wild West Bowie Knife..

I fix all of my cold steel pocket clips immediately by placing the knife clip into my pocket (knife on outside of pants) and using the knife body to apply leverage; checking every so often to see if the tension is correct.

For me it's the ad15, spartan ,4maxx scout , sr1, large voyager. Totally agree about the thickness behind the edge on the ad15. I still love mine but feel like it could have been a little thinner and still plenty sufficient. I climb trees and when I'm going up if there are limbs in the way of my lanyard(flip line) I use my sr1 with short lanyard or spartan to chop the small limbs.

Like the way you listed them from 1 to 5, instead of like a beauty pageant. Have a fair number of Cold Steel knives. Love the Recon 1, have 3 with the Ultra lock so had to get one with the Tri-AD.

Recon 1 Clip Point is awesome! Then the AD 10 then the 4 Max Scout then the Spartan and finally the American Lawman! That is my wish list! So far I only have the Recon 1 but wishing hard for the others!

I would have a VERY hard time picking five! You might do well to check out the VOyager Drop Points. I especially love the XL. I got the Rajah II just like you, for fun. But I've found it to be amazing for hiking and camping.

The Ultimate Hunter is my top CS followed very close by the Lawman. The AD-10 is too cramped for my hands and the spine of the handle is a huge hot spot. My Recon 1 clip point is definitely in my top 5 as well.

The AK47 was my companion for over 10 years. It's still my favorite knife. Although I switched it and my Leatherman Wave for a Skeletool CX for EDC. However if I'm doing any serious work I grab the AK47 and the Wave. Although if I'm in the outdoors the 4 Max is basically a folding Becker BK2. Also the spear point Code 4 is an excellent bush crafting knife.

Your #1 & 2 is directly opposite from mine, but the same two knives. In fact, my code 4 is one of my all time favourite folders, based on sentimental reasons. But now I'm trying to narrow down my choice for large, beefy cold steel folder for outdoors use. This helped. Thanks! 👍🏻 (I think I've narrowed it down to the AD 10 and 4 Max Scout...)

Hi how are you doing? I enjoy your knife insight. So far some of the Cold Steels mentioned I will agree with. I think you forgot the serrated tri lite, the smallest of the Cold Steel sizes but boy what a cutter and smooth action. As far as the Lawman series yes they are worth it. I own a Recon 1 and 2 Spartans.

I absolutely love the Air Llite. I only have one complaint and that’s I wish it had a stonewashed finish on the blade and clip, otherwise 10/10.

Hello from Canada. I've got three of your top five, so I'm can't be doing that badly. I have been looking for the American lawman, but up here they are sold out( pretty much every cold steel is now). I picked up the Luzon large because of the price and the size. It deploys so quick that my friend thought it was an automatic. Just a fun knife to have. Cheers!

The pocket clips are tough because they’re made to be deliberate. Meaning if the knife comes out of the pocket, it’s because you made the decision to deliberately pull it out. I’ve had plenty of knives removed from my pocket without me intentionally pulling them out. That is impossible with a CSK. Impossible. It will only come out with gripped pulling force. Cold Steel Knives have a strict purpose, hard use and self defense. They’re tools.

Hey Stassa 23, I just got my cold steel air lite tanto. Really love the build quality but not the easiest to deploy blade. SMKW has them for $75. I also have the CS Broken Scull with CTS HXP steel in od green G-10.

Tight clip is an easy fix. I just wedge something in there and push it up a little. Love the american Lawman. Finally got one, and it owns my pocket at the moment.

@Stassa23 I need some suggestions on a good blade, Don’t roast me: I’m a EDC Glock 19 carrier & IV been carrying Benchmade or ESEE in my little daily load. I have always liked Cold Steel, the Recon’s especially. This video is very helpful but I always like a 2nd opinio! Also looking at some CRKT, SOG or a new benchmade. Nothing wrong with asking for some guidance. This is gonna be just a every day backup self defense, but if shit hit the fan, a working knife. I do like a Tanto & serrated blade, but not opposed to others. Your help appreciated!!!

I like the AK-47 it just looks so predatorial. The current AK-47 has a clip point but not too curved like most clip points. It is a clip point with “spear point” characteristics. I would like to see an AK-47 with a tanto point. I think Cold Steel should release a Tanto point AK-47.

All great knives. I don't have an AD-10 in the collection atm, because I donated mine to a worthy cause, but I definitely want to get another. I've never had a Voyager, but it's on my wish list, along with the newer Air-Lite. I love my Lawman, Code 4, and Recon 1 though. I really hope they don't go to shit now that they've been sold. They make such great knives.

I have most of them sanded but the clip is still strong on some of them however ever since my accident I have to wear mainly lightweight shorts and sometimes pants. In the pants I just have to lift the clip up before I put it in the pocket

Great video. You complain a lot about your hands. Try to soak them in CDS2 solution with a drop of DMSO. I recently cut 5mm of my finger tip and after a month of use it completly regrew. That stuff is magic;)

For me only AL and code 4 is reasonable to carry around, recon is already too big for my taste for a folding knife, and if I have to use big knife for chopping I'll just use my cheap non folding machete to do the job
