Yes you can use old characters. But there are certain game modes where you need the new ones.

I like 9th anni Kenny a lot more now that I managed to beat the nightmare Espada gq and two extra waves with him. I just don't like playing him a lot casually because Nozarashi is so small amd weird, I hate looking at it 😢
