I really wanted to like Photosynthesis. The friend I played it with a couple of times really did like it a lot. But I couldn't quite get into it as a game. I have picked up a copy of Floriferous which is another very pretty game, though I haven't gotten it to the table yet. But I can't think of any other plant-related games that I've played. I already have some games picked out for my next get-together (we're doing a semi-Halloween-themed get-together). I had to be careful about my selection (nothing too scary or triggering). So we are going to play Werewords, King of Tokyo (with the Halloween expansion) and Cosmic Encounter -- yeah, it's not quite Halloween-themed, but it's at least Halloween adjacent (plus I had a few more thematic games rejected, namely Ghost Stories, Mansions of Madness and Dead of Winter). I haven't played Cosmic in YEARS so I'm really looking forward to teaching it.

As with anything, there's never a real one-size-fits all, including for games. I've found that the theme-heavier games tend to be more polarizing when it comes to people liking or disliking. While Photosynthesis isn't heavy on strategy, the theme and general gameplay definitely doesn't speak to all. Hope that you have an awesome time with the upcoming get-together! GO COSMIC! DO IT! Also I guess the Halloween thing makes sense overall, or whatever. But mostly Cosmic. Yaaaaay. :D . Thanks as always for the awesome comment!
