Long comment, but I grew up in Waterbury! Scary as hell! We moved when I was in 5th grade because I was about to move up to Middle School, but a boy in a gang had a gun in his locker and shot a rival student and hurt a few other people by running and throwing them out of his way. It was right after our newspaper boy was stabbed repeatedly in my front yard on fee collection day for the $13 he had so far. My dad held his wounds together while I ran for my mom to call 911. There were constant shootings in the projects (ghetto) behind our house and I was attacked by two pitbulls that broke loose. My 15 pound chow/golden puppy I had rescued 2 days before freaked out and chased them back into the projects. We thought she was killed because she didn't come home right away but eventually she came home just a little bruised. My parents were so desperate to move we had to leave our pool table and my basketball hoop for her 3 adult sons and move on Christmas Eve otherwise the lady wouldn't buy the house. 18 years later and my basketball hoop is still at the exact same height I left it set as a 4.5 foot tall 11 year old with the cinderblocks stacked up to the right so I could stand on them so I could actually make some shots lol. I have some fantastic memories there, but my biggest memory was the fear that was drilled into us resulting in me not being allowed in my yard alone and never ever ever stepping off our property, not even to cross the road, unless my father was with me. Oh. And some guy tried to get my dad to sell him his mint condition pickup truck for $300 by having his 6 year old translate, but as soon as he walked away from my dad he spoke English fluently 🙃

Bridgeport is better than Fairfield, Weston, Darien or Westport? Seems a bit odd to me. New haven is an area of extreme growth for biotechnology companies with a ton of research from Yale...it is actually a very important city in the entire Healthcare sector.

Stamford's location is the biggest reason for it's growth, only a train from NYC. Bridgeport's biggest problem is that the state ignores it, Waterbury is just too far gone. Hartford is just the capital but probably more rundown than Bridgeport. New Haven has lot's of potential but seems to be competing for highest homicide rate.
