hejdu13337 You should move to America, my friend. I have a range in my backyard, and I practice at least 3 days a week. Our government is getting excited about trying to take away our guns. Ain't gonna happen... There's an average of 3 guns per household here. Our constitution requires us to own firearms, just incase a "tyrannical government" issue should arise. Our forefathers knew that this day would come. God bless America!!!

I've been to a few different gun/shoot schools. You can learn something from any one of them and benefit from both "new stuff" and from the common-threads they all present. I admire and appreciate the "delivery" that this instructor provides. Seems to stress the purpose and imperatives of each skill-set being taught and puts the student in a real-world mindset during the lesson. Demonstrates very well w/o attempting to showcase his own skill. Great instructor, great teaching-method. The "finished product", i.e., "the student" is always a reflection of a good instructor. His instructor pride is very obvious.

That's why you do drills and then put them together in scenario-based exercises, which change each time. These can be in military training or even 2-gun matches. You have different scenarios of who must be and must not be shot, perhaps intel you have to get, etc. You have to assess and decide, real time what tactic to employ and when.

We ran the same drills in the Marines, except for the "zipper drill". We did something similar when firing on burst or using crew serve weapons. Placing double taps close together is because it inflicts more trauma to the same area. Especially when wearing plates or body armor. 1st round may not penetrate but the 2nd would, if placed closely. Same goes for a foe without armor. If the first round hits the chest bone and a second one hits the same area, it'll be more painful and traumatizing. The target may not be fully exposed, that first round may glance off a rib, hit their hand or the weapon. That first round is to shock them and clear the way. The purpose of trying to keyhole the shots is because, in a live situation, those shots will be spread out due to adrenalin. Aim small, miss small, and practice how you play. Practicing to shift and spread those rounds out may result in a missed shot.

Table 3 is an excellent marine corps day time carbine shoot similar to this one. You can also run table 4 which is the exact same course of fire, only it's ran at night with PEQ 16's and PVS 14's. Within 25 meters, I usually use the 400 meter stadia line on my four power RCO acog in order to get fairly accurate shots.

Thank you for firing correctly.

I most certainly agree with the triple-tap method. My brother taught me that back in the 1980's (he was USA MP on S.W.A.T in the 1970's). One drill that I've practiced on hand-gun quick draw is putting the first round into the hip joint to end their ability to stand up (and to circumvent any body armor they may be wearing) then the second and third into the abdomen and then the chest respectively (spreading them out for maximum damage and using the muzzle climb to my advantage). I no longer have an area that I can practice this kind of shooting so my skills have dropped off. "Muscle memory" may still be with me but without practice that falls off but the brain still remembers.

OK, but the distance to the target... I know everybody wants to do CQB and DA, but go 5/10/15/20/25m, mark the spot on the target and train accuracy/speed/muscle memory. Lot of guys shoot fast, but if you put them with iron sight 25m from a target after doing 25 pushups they have a problem to hit a torso, but if you shorter the distance to 3m they starting to hit the target.... I do not deny this video, It's only my opinion. Regards.
@signal-0productions1836 жыл бұрын
These are BASIC skills development drills. In my opinion you shouldn't increase distance or add physical stressors (push ups) until a shooter has mastered the basics... or performs them well and on demand. Got to start and evaluate somewhere... and this is how you do it.

"Failure Drill" = "Mozambique Drill" Apparently, we can't use the latter term anymore because of its racist connotation. The Libs win another round.
@Just-To-Subscribe7 жыл бұрын
Hoosier Ed As he mentioned in the original video of the zipper drill: A popular thing has many names" (or something similar) I think the zipper drill is a better name, because it looks a bit like zipping up. When you hear that, you'll get a picture of what it is about. It has nothing to do with Mozambique.
@hoosiered4717 жыл бұрын
Just to subscribe: I don't want to be "one of those guys," but you need to do your research and pay attention to the video better. One of the five drills Karl was demonstrating was the "'Failure Drill" (not the "Zipper Drill"), which was two to the chest, and one to the head in order to "turn off the switch." It's called the failure drill because if your two to the chest doesn't finish the bad guy, you need to put one through his melon to finish him off. The drill was original referred to as the "Mozambique Drill" because some famous mercenary working in Mozambique at the time had the aforementioned scenario happen to him. He allegedly shot the guy twice in the chest, and the Mozambique citizen looked at him. Thus, he transitioned his weapon to the guy's brain housing group and put him down for good. There. Respectful rebuttal submitted.

I ran the zipper and box drills this weekend in the melt your balls off Texas heat. I incorporated some running into them to get my heart rate and breathing up. I also would do a failure drill with my SBR, simulate an FTF, and transition to my sidearm and complete the failure or box drill. Also did the box drills from barricades, (pallets I built a stand on) and my truck. Excellent training day. "It ain't training if it ain't rainin'" was a saying we said in the Army. I loved doing these drills in the Marine Corps, and I still practice the same drills to this day. I'm glad you're approving my training. I did learn a new drill to add though, the "zipper" drill. Thanks Karl!

I actually link your training drill videos to my friends who are new to shooting a lot. Thanks for these, very useful and reliable information. I normally don't like collaboration channels like TFB TV or IraqVeteran8888. I'm not saying this to be a troll, it's just with how decentralized and inconsistent they are, it's not exactly reliable. But you guys and Polenar Tactical are both fantastic.

Thanks for talking about the importance of spreading that hammered pair across the chest. For years I was taught getting those rounds inside of 1" I learned from a ranger buddy that's not always what you want.

Karl I've been watching your videos for years and I love you brother. I appreciate you giving your best years to defending our country. Also for giving me soo much free training through your KZbin videos. I was soo excited when I saw your endorsement video of the tr1 I was fumbling to get my credit card from my wallet to order 1 and I saw it was on back order,then I started reading all the bad reviews about the business practices of the company even one from the tn bbb. If you can't get materials that's the companies problem don't promote a product you can't make just to get money for the material. Instead get a loan buy the material,create the product.if it's made as advertised it will sell. That's what people are mad about. I hope you light a fire under there ass cause I feel it hurt your reputation a little bit . You should have made a product deal with bravo company. Every ar owner in the USA would buy one,and I think you know it too. I still love you brother I'll look for the tr1 on the used market I'd rather buy private party anyway. F the feds.

As usual this young man is spot on...these five "up drills" should be Carbine 101 for all shooters. As I have said before, beyond the range work, one of the best training methods you can do is to start hunting. It teaches stalking and tracking and general comfortableness in the field and whether you are hunting ducks or field birds, hogs or deer...it will make your heart rate spike and will require getting the sight on the target quickly and sending a round down range that hits in order to be successful. My heart is with Field birds, but for rifle work nothing come closer to simulating combat then wild hogs; stalk through brush, come upon a group of them (they don't hear terribly well but they have good smell senses so you need to come from down wind) and it always seems they see you at the same time you see them and they scatter like lightening, and yes they are damn fast...you have to get your sight on target extremely quickly and hit a smallish moving target on the chest/upper torso...if you can do that, shooting bad guys becomes much easier (a U.S. Recon Marine vet.). p.s. The 15 (M4 derivation carbine) with a 70-75 grain missile (My Knight's Manufacturing SR-15 is 1.7) is an excellent hog rifle...very good in the brush of central Florida and quick on target.

OK, Challenge Accepted! I combined all your drills and a malfunction drill, then shot it, videoed it and uploaded the video- including showing my targets. Thanks for the great content and the inspiration!!! I think I did well, and i'm happy with the results, but the video also showed me things I need to improve on, so next time I go to the range, I'll be better than I was the time before. Get of the couch and go train!
