The Czech firearm history goes "a bit" further than that. Handheld firearms were used since the beginning of 15th century and heavily utilized in Hussite wars - probably the largest utilization of small firearms on European battlefields at the time. The gun used back then was called "píšťala", which translates as whistle. The word eventually spread into other languages and served as a base for contemporary word "pistol".

I was stationed in Germany from 1984-1987 and I bought a new genuine CZ-75 from the Rod & Gun Club for about $175 When I got back to the states, I took it to a gun show in Fort Worth, looking for a holster for it, and nearly every dealer was salivating. I had a dozen offers of over $700 for it, and eventually one offered $850 and I sold it to him. At the time, I was amazed, and had no idea that they were simply impossible to get here in the states. At the time though, that $850 was a ton of money and I thought they were all crazy. (My issue gun was a 1911 (air defense Redeye and Stinger gunner) and they had started distributing the Baretta 9mm shortly before I rotated back, so I had no love affair with the CZ. - It shot good and was reliable, but no way I thought it was worth what I got for it.) Of course, looking back, it is one of the few guns I wish I had held on to. Another that slipped away was the Dan Wesson Pistol Pack with all 4 barrels in an attaché case that I brought back.

A really cool thing about Czech Republic that a lot of people don't realize is that it's pretty much the only place in the EU, along with Slovakia to a lesser extent, where you can conceal carry and easily obtain a licence as a regular civilian. Also unlimited size mags and JHPs. Pretty sure everywhere else in the EU it's basically impossible to carry.

The most important aspect of that legislation is, that if you fulfill the requirements given by law (clean crime record (including drunk driving etc), passed medical exams and passed gun exams (theoretical test, gun manipulation test and shooting test), getting the permission is guaranteed. They're drinking different wines. White wine is often served cold, and even where it's not you don't want it to get warm, so you hold the glass by the base or the stem so your hot lil' hands don't warm it up. I tend to think this is rather silly if you're at a dinner party or something, but for a situation like this where you're doing more 'standing around holding wine' and less 'picking up the glass just long enough for a sip,' it does likely make a difference.

"vzor" means "pattern" Also, let's not get into the history because that "only 100 years" comment would probably be a cause of Vz. 58 assault rifles and Vz. 61 SMGs manifesting in close proximity (especially considering Ian didn't add them here)... :D for those who don't know, 106 years are for the modern incarnation as a republic (Czechoslovak and independent Czech)... the Duchy of Bohemia was founded in the 9th century, became Kingdom of Bohemia in 11th century and was since 16th century was integrated into the Austrian Empire as one of its wealthiest parts (Austrian emperors held the title of King of Bohemia until WW1), the preceding Great Moravia in 8th and there are mentions of a possible slavic proto-state in Czech lands as early as in 7th century...

And adding to that, relevant to the topic of the video, there was a long history of firearms production in the area before the creation of independent Czechoslovakia. For example, I expect that people who know firearms history heard the name Krnka. And of course it goes even further back than that. It's no accident that the words "pistol" and "howitzer" have Czech origins (from the 15th century).

Well, in Japanese 式 means "math equations, types of system, set" so it totally does not translate to "model" or "pattern", so what. Don't every culture has its own slightly different preferred word for "Model" after all

Not to mention that the Czechs(or Bohemians) have been making guns en masse since the early 15th.

SP-01 is still my go to. I've lost count how many rounds I have put through it. It's chunky with the full steel frame but I love it.

Why do you think they love American culture? Because they have McDonald’s?
@kingbaldwiniv54094 ай бұрын
@@Johnsormani, no, because I have spent time there and paid attention to their music and literature scene. My family is from all over that area.

My 90s-era CZ 75B was terrible. Maybe they were just completely cheaping out on the factory mags, but I couldn't get through a full mag with mine. Was happy to sell it.

My second centerfire pistol was a pre-B CZ75 around 1995-ish. Nowhere near my last CZ, my son is still using it in local competition. Definitely fans of Czech firearms ever since.
