I have been playing almost exclusively in open D for decades. Recently, in checking out open D KZbin videos, I find that most are useless because they never teach those simple chords. (Which I doped out years ago.) Thanks for presenting a useful video.

Love open G also ( although I drop to( F# and take off the lowest string completely, Kieth Richards style 5 strings from low String down G D G B D ✌️💓

Open d chord is dope. I like playing southern music. Kinda like folk music. It’s honestly one of my favorite things to play right now. Plus, this chord is teaching me a ton about music theory 🤷‍♂️

I write alt-country and Drop-D/DADGAD are the tunings i use the most. For whatever reason never got around to open-d. Bout to have me a good ‘ole time. Also since you play southern music you should look into Woodtone strings. They’re unfortunately coated but they sounds ridiculously gorgeous in Drop tunings.

I've been playing open D for several years. In the last couple days i've been checking out others a bit. Your vid was the first to mention the simple G and A chord. Those were the first two chords I figured out the first week of playing. They gave me the foundation. the next chord I figured out was the C. Really handy for playing many Old Timey tunes and some Irish tunes and songs. Starts out like a standard C, A sting 3rd fret. Then D string 2nd fret, Then first finger is placed on the 3rd sting first fret. Pinky finger goes on the 2nd string 3rd fret.
