Three Lions was the official England song in 96 you even show the squad in your video at 6:08. The Simply Red song was the tournament official song. It was though unofficial in 1998 as the FA went with the dreadful England United (made up of Echo and the Bunnymen, Space, Spice Girls, Ocean Colour Scene).

Was back in the early 1980s. My father had been transferred from the US to a borrowed RAF/USAF base called Upper Heyford. We went along with him and we lived there for about 3 years or so. While living there, we found out that the Brits loved Football (what we knew as Soccer), and there was a national championship played for by all UK teams annually. Far as I remember, it was called the "British Cup". During one of those years, the Spurs were major underdogs and they made a major push to win the championship. Was a big deal, and they won in 1981 and 1982. Was one of the big memories I have about my time in the UK, and I've been a long-distance fan of the Spurs since.

Early 80's? That would explain it, I was still three or four years old when Spurs won the cup then. So it's the FA Cup, that's the biggest domestic cup here, though it's limited to teams in the English League (So it does include Welsh teams but not Scottish, as they have their own league and cup tournaments)

The clapping in the intro of Back Home is a near carbon copy of the clapping in the intro of the German song "Gute Freunde kann niemand trennen" (Good friends can't be seperated by no one) from Franz Beckenbauer from 1966. The irony is that I think the English national team singing its own anthem for the world cup 1970 inspired the German national team to do the same for 1974 with "Fußball ist unser Leben" (Football is our life).
