Answering the OP: Im just a household of 2, but I grow various microgreens, sprouts, shoots and petite/baby greens year round indoors on a homemade grow rack (started in response to covid shortages). Outdoors, ill be growing the following this season using vertical trellising (except the carrots, which will be indoors): Peppers: + Jalapeno (several each of 2 varieties - jalafuego, and an F1 variant with extra disease resistance) > Lunchbox Snacking Peppers, orange > Cornito Arancias, orange > Bell Peppers (Ace) Cherry Tomatoes: 2-3 of each ... + Sun Sugar + Supersweet 100 + Purple GMO Tomato + Cherry Bomb + Toronjina and/or Edox Other: + Chinese Bitter Melons (aka Balsam Pears) + Sugar Snap Peas + Carrots (crimson nantes) Under consideration: + Curry Tree (indoor) + Blueberries bushes, raised bed (variety: palladium ?) + Sichuan Pepper Trees, M&F (aka Prickly Ash) + Petunias (a GMO bioluminescent variety ... pretty cool) My chief nemesis is fusarium, followed by a tendency to overwater.

Oh wow thats awesome! Right now its quite cold here but my plants for this season are several tomatoes, chillis and some kiwi vines! :) Besides that for my timelapse projects atm I am also growing a jalapeno (almost done), avocado tree, mango tree and oak tree and a chestnut tree!

@@interestingasfckhowtos Cool ! PEPPERS QUESTION: I'm assuming the timelapse is indoors ... which raises a timely question for me. Im planning to grow some of my jalapenos indoors this year (because an attempt to overwinter some 2 years ago was a disaster due to fungus gnats and aphids) and I already have a bunch of seedlings rdy. I was wondering about how much of a difference in limb strength and yeild there is between a mature jalapeno plant grown indoors vs one that was properly hardened off and grown outside in full sun ? BTW, clarification of my OP ... I dont actually trellis my peppers per se - I use the stake & twine cage method for those. For them, the trellis line is only used to prevent knockdown in the wind, because I tie it to the bucket handles.

@@interestingasfckhowtos ADDENDUM: Oh, I just belatedly noticed the chestnut reference. Here in the US we have the American Chestnut Foundation. Theyve spent many many decades trying to crossbreed disease resistance back into the american chestnut, and recently had to drop the current version of their most well known line, which was sad ... but many breeding lines are still underway. Which cultivar are you growing, and what stage is it at ? Cheers.

You glossed over or ignored certain critical details. Take blueberries for example: + AFAIK, seeds from store bought fruit, just like with avocados, dont necessarily breed true to the fruit they came from. So, even if you manage to succeed in this 2 year endeavor, you might not get exactly what you're expecting. + The variety of blueberry MUST be properly matched to the Hardiness zone you want to grow them in (re: annual Cool Hours) otherwise it will die, and waste all of your time and effort (it's a 2 year process). + The soil must be very acidic and be ammended to maintain same, or the plant will die. Getting an accurate digital pH meter is a MUST for projects like that. This is why all but the most skilled/lucky gardeners tend to fail when trying to grow their own from store bought fruit, and why its by far the best option to shop for established seedlings (of an appropriate cool-hrs rating) from reputable & informative online nurseries. The goal should be to do as much as possible to set people up for success, not frustration and failure. Thats why its important to do all the requisite reading before posting a how-to video on same. Just sayin.

@@interestingasfckhowtos You are very welcome. 🫡 The subject (blueberries) was a timely one for me, as id just recently researched what was needed ... the only real deterrant for me is the 2 year timeframe. I'll probably wait until after election day ... if the results dont cause me a 9mm headache, i'll probably give it a whirl.

@@interestingasfckhowtos (still reading) Ah ha ... blueberry plants "are colonial - sprouting from its rhizome to form colonies of clones ... not self pollinating ..." See what I mean ? Definitely not a plant for beginners or even many internediate gardeners. As for my hardiness zone (7b) it looks like my best bet, cultivar wise, may be Vacinnium Palladium. I'm still filling out my list of suitables before I start shopping. Since theyre not self pollinating that means I need at least 2 plants, and better still 3+ in fairly close proximity, and since its a low structured rhizone with extreme ph needs that means a raised bed makes extra good sense. Then I gotta find out if there's gender requirements, and how much and what type of sunlight they prefer. Like I said ... definitely not a project for beginners like me, but then again, i'm far from normal too. 😎👍

Good question! Hard to say from my POV - I would say its on the edge. How cold are your winters? I am living in Europe so its a bit hard to judge for me@@RovingPunster
