Once you get passed the hair, the looks, 80s metal guitarists seriously made some awesome music! They were so varied too. Priest, Maiden, Metal Church, Metallica they all had their own unique sound! Which is why it's such an epic era!

That song Crazy Train originally started out from Randy and Greg Leon (Dokken/Dubrow) copping the riff from "Swingtown" by Steve Miller. Think about it, "Crazy, but that's how it goes" is that guitar riff. Little known rock trivia factoid. 🤘🏼

Dude, I came here to learn more about dyads. Not only did I get some more info on those, but your Lynch riffing is exactly what I aspire to be studying the coming months. Is that riff you played from a specific song or something you made up? I listened to a lot of Dokken in my 26 years on this planet, but that riff is not springing to mind!

@MusicWithMarky3 жыл бұрын
Do you mean like effects and tone?
@peapodoffical3 жыл бұрын
@@MusicWithMarky yeah lol
@MusicWithMarky3 жыл бұрын
@@peapodoffical Well, the easiest route is to look at rigs players you like from that time used and then get that equipment. But in general, I can say that back then guys had much less mids in their tone than you hear today. So dial mids back. Also don't be shy about using delay and reverb. On clean sounds, a nice chorus is a very 80s thing to do too.

Arent those called triads not diads
@MusicWithMarky2 жыл бұрын
Sorry, not sure which part of the video you are referring to. Dyads are two note chords and triads are three. Sometimes I'm referring to 3 and 4 note chords as dyads because I am fretting two note dyads and then throwing in open strings on top of it. So, I'm thinking of the dyad that I'm physically fretting and the open strings are tacked on.
@zikkicharade2 жыл бұрын
@@MusicWithMarky i mean for example five on the d and 4 on the g 1st and 3rd note isn’t thus why they call it triad?A riff example is what you give is what you get by ratt
@MusicWithMarky2 жыл бұрын
Thos are the first two notes of a G major triad. The full triad is g-b-d. If you play the only the g and b, then it's a dyad.
