That is very nice of your father! Make sure you look up tutorials and tips about flying to be able to fly as safely as possible and to minimize crashing. The Phantom 3 Standard is a very advanced drone and shouldn't be classed as a toy but a professional bit of equipment for taking high quality stable videos and photos, make sure you upload some videos for me to see when you get it! Hiya, first song is - Creepin' free in the KZbin Audio Library, I have had a few drones in the past couple of years, my first being the Phantom 2 Vision+ which was a great drone, then I replace it at the start of 2016 for a Phantom 3 Advanced (4k video wasn't really needed for what I do) and now I have started receiving smaller entry level drones which I plan to start making reviews on i.e. the X Predator 5.8G. What about you?

faced with a critical battery situation i would cut the throttle and let it fall on just idle power 85% of the way and throttle up again near the ground, it never fails to amaze me how many people fall out the sky because they tried descending under power from way up when there battery was about to give up and end up with the esc's cutting out!

Some fail safe, should keep them things spinning just enough to keep it vertical and drop as fast as it can, would be good battery saver

I tried that a few times. The only issue is that as soon as you drop the power, you may lose ability to maneuver. The power required to bring the copter down after allowing it to free fall is unbelievable - it's like trying to slow down a rock that's been dropped from 2,000 feet. Good fun though and a very inexpensive way to see above the clouds. I was lucky enough to pilot a Bulldog and do aerobatics - nothing more fun than stalling the engine and nose diving. Every damn time I went up, I was hoping for an engine failure just so I could parachute out the damn thing. Maybe I'm just weird!

It's hard for me to believe that 473m is one of the five highest drone flights.I have my Contixo F18 and I eased to 400m.Yes I could barely see it but it isn't such a substantial height to climb to.I would think 1000m and above may be where difficulty begins in terms of drone flight.

+Hassan Deer I was in Greece on vacation, there are no max height laws in Greece. I made sure there where no planes before take off just to be safe. By the way 400ft is the USA max height and general max height for most country's. It was a very nice flight was quite windy one the ground and really wind in the air but it was a smooth flight

+Benjamin Whiffen that's because 0-500ft is called Class Echo....just because you checked for planes doesn't exclude from breaking the law. You have to also check you are not busting other airspace such as a Charlie or Bravo.

+Hassan Deer I recommend you read my comment before replying. I said I was in Greece when I went too 1600ft and Greece has no law on max drone altitude. Checking for air planes does not make my flight legal but it was not illegal in the first place. By checking for air planes I mean I had not heard or seen any air craft what so ever in my 4 days being there. Also I was flying up the mountain so if a air craft hit my drone it would be with in 100ft of the mountain and my drone would have been the least of it problem.

+Benjamin Whiffen I totally understand, and you are right Greece probably doesn't have a limit but there is a thing called airspace which ATC controls who goes in, stays in and/or out of it. All I am saying is whatever country you go to try to respect the airspace because a small plane won't know you there since ATC isn't talking to you or you're not on the Unicom frequency for that area. What if there was a small plane doing a low, scenic flight around the mountain?
