Also I primarily like niche because they are more complex, unique, interesting, generally have better performance, and challenging. I do do prefer designers however for working out, doing shores, and so on. So far the only designer I have discovered that feels like niche (note I'm less than a year on my fragrance journey at 64) is Dior Homme Perfume but hope to discover more as I go along. I should say I have also found some clones for designers that I've liked because they are close to the fragrances without the hefty price tag of $400 and more. 4400

Great video, JC! I would also recommend the Gallivant line of fragrances, which was created by Nick Steward (former creative director at L'Artisan Parfumeur). They're very unique and quite affordable for a niche fragrance at $85. I just bought Gallivant Los Angeles and can honestly say it's like no other fragrance I've ever smelled. Also, Molinard makes a line of fairly inexpensive single note fragrances that are eaux de parfum and I sometimes layer their fig fragrance Figue with the AdP Fico.

Since I found cheap but great fragrances such as Antonio Banderas Blue Seduction, Gorse, and then some, I have stop buying high priced niche colognes. Of course, there are some niche that I will re-buy regardless the price when I run out of them, but at this moment I will try to find good, affordable ones.

If you are a true collector, than price sometimes shouldn't matter. However, if you just like smelling good then you need to have a pricepoint that you wont break. Fragrance buying is no different than buying art, at times you buy because of the uniqueness not because it will appeal to others; or you might what to buy because you just want to make a statement. Lastly, I love music, my first Oprea left me confused and lost, not sure what I heard, but the experienced left me mesmerized. APPRECIATION is the bottom line for all things loved. One bro.

I know what you mean about the experience of hearing an opera for the first time. I want to experience that in person because the first time I heard the late Pavarotti sing on a documentary, I experienced massive amounts of frisson. Talk about someone with a God-given talent--that man was born to sing opera and it didn't matter that I knew not one word coming out of his mouth--the music, the emotion, that moment, was unforgettable. Fragrance and art can be those things as well, we just have to use common sense when it comes to beauty...

I've tried an Aqua Di Parma ( I don't remember it's name but the bottle was black and its name starts with a V) and I was blown away by its smell. It smells natural and elegant. Also, the thing that shocked me the most is its performance. It says eau de cologne on the bottle but out of the 4 fragrances that I've tested that day, ADP was performing way better than them off of my skin. But $160 is a bit too much for a bottle in my opinion. Its not like I couldn't afford it, more like I couldn't forgive myself if I bought it lol. So yeah, my maximum for a fragrance is $100 and less. Except if its (the special one that I only use on special occations and such) then I would extend my budget by another 100.

Funny this video would appear today. I have just added to my collection taking my total to a modest 27 bottles, and of course, I had to top up the wives, although she does like to dip into my collection too! I finally purchased a popular niche fragrance, Elysium (Roja) Cologne and then (high end designer?) Parfum De Marly Layton/Exclusif/Carlile and I got Sophia PDM Delina. So, all in all, an expensive last seven days. Have you had your nose on Elysium Edition Speciale Parfum? I would say tt's the same but different, he's amped up some of the ingredients. And have you ever had your nose on his "Signature Scent" Haute Luxe? Soph wants me to get a bottle so we can both wear it but at £2500.00 I don't know that I can justify that purchase just yet, that and the fact he only releases a new batch of 250 bottles for the UK and 250 bottles for the rest of the world on his birthday, September 25th. You can purchase a 7.5ml sample but even that is £195.00. Great video by the way.

Congratulations on your video, and your style as well. I own designers fragrances as well as niche. The majority is niche. The fact is that, apart from some exceptions (especially for vintage fragrances), most modern designers' fragrances smell very similar to each other; so I usually get the impression of a "deja vu". This is rare in niche, which I prefer. This said, not every niche fragrance is worth the price. You need to try and experience the fragrance on your skin. And remember: never blind buy a fragrance that costs more than 30$.

I was honestly afraid to try niche cuz I always had the mentality that I couldn't afford it, that was until I realized that all these designers have the same old DNA and I was getting tired of smelling scents I know I've smelled before. Plus, the main difference between designer and niche is the overall quality. So , I recently decided to buy a couple Mancera fragrances: Cedrat Boise and Instant Crush. The CB came in today (1/8) and I'm really digging this scent. And no, it doesn't smell anything like the king of kings Aventus - it's its own scent altogether. I love it. My next purchase is going to be Carlisle and maybe another Mancera

Also that's funny it ends up being philosykos it's the only full bottle from them I own.. searching high low for Heeley Figuier can still not find so this is as close as it goes but it's more milky vs heeley more coconuty.

Great review and explanation as always jc. I wet my feet with serge Lutens chergui as my first niche fragrance and then creed aventus followed shortly After that. I was blown away and a whole new universe and realm of possibility and hence there went my money 😂😂

Philosykos and Timbuktu are good for summer bro?
@stayfreshproductions4 жыл бұрын
Yes! I think Philosykos is a little better for Summer than Timbuktu though.

Can someone help me out possibly? I own most of the talked about fragrances and I like them but my wife hates most of them "Go figure lol" I was thinking of picking up Creed Royal Oud, is that a decent fragrance ? I would like something that smells clean, yet manly if that makes sense. Thanks in advance
@iamnotraylewis58385 жыл бұрын
Royal Oud,is to me,one of the best offerings from Creed!,...but I pick up a very prominent cedar note,that's not overwhelming,but very present,along with all of the other notes!,...it's a complete symphony!!...,but try layering it with Aventus!!
@stayfreshproductions5 жыл бұрын
Hey bro. Sorry to hear your wife dislikes most of what you like. Royal Oud is a great scent, but I can't guarantee she'll like that one as well. Do you know what she actually likes?

J. C. Hey brother love the reviews/videos. Honestly my wife has loved one fragrance on me and it blows my mind. It is a cheapie fragrance. It’s CJ Black from Rue 21. I don’t even know the notes in it but they’ve recently changed it and it doesn’t smell like it did. That was by far my most complimented fragrance by a very large margin. Women would chase me down and make me right the name down. It had a musk yet clean scent.

Love the video.I have experienced some niche fragrances Chergie happens to be one of them along with the Colonias. The problem I have is spending a couple of hundred bucks for niche and itnot lasting.;this is something that I hear over and over from friends -ultimately it is not worth it when you can find something you like and will give great performance at 1/3 the price.
