Looking deep into your opponent's soul and finding the correct call on the river is one of the most riveting experiences at the poker table. In this video, Patrik Antonius, Alex Foxen, Action Dan, Rui Cao and Rampage Poker display their soul-reading abilities during a mix of cash games and poker tournaments.
Hands:
00:12 - Patrik Antonius Makes A Sick Hero Call
04:34 - Action Dan Claims Henry’s Soul With Ace-High
08:38 - “I Swear To God I Was Calling”
13:59 - Rampage Poker Snapcalls Nik’s $110,000 Airball
16:23 - Alex Foxen Ruins Adrian Mateos’ Day
Patrik Antonius ‘The Finn’ is from Finland and has $22,000,000 in live tournament earnings putting him in the top 40 on the all time money list. Patrik is known for being extremely stoic at the table and near impossible to get a live read from. Since 2007, Patrik has played on over 120 live streamed cash games and has won in excess of $400,000. He is the co-owner of First Land of Poker (FLOP), which is a company aimed at revolutionizing the world of poker through innovative digital solutions, enhancing the experience for players, and streamlining operations for poker room operators.
Dan Kwon or ‘Action Dan’ as he is known by on stream, is an entrepreneur from Toronto, Canada who has made multiple appearances on the Hustler Casino Live stream.
Tom Dwan also known as durrrr from his online days is a 36 year old American professional poker player. He is a favorite poker player for many around the world as they would watch him battle in the highest stakes cash games on Full Tilt Poker before poker’s Black Friday hit. He was a regular on Poker After Dark and High Stakes Poker. He is known for his fearless style and big bluffs. Today, Tom is mostly known to play in high stakes private games in Asia. He is also often seen on the Triton poker tour playing in the largest buy-in poker tournaments in the world. He currently has over $6,800,000 in live tournament earnings which puts him in the top 250 on the all time money list.
Ethan Yau, a.k.a Rampage, is a popular KZbinr and poker player. He has over 300,000 subscribers on KZbin and has won over $2,400,000 in tournament earnings, including a $900,000 win in a December 2022 World Poker Tour (WPT) High Roller at the Wynn. Rampage has played over 50 times on live streamed cash games, and is currently up over $1,150,000.
Hand 1:
During a $25,000 buy-in Triton Cyprus event, Patrik Antonius ‘The Finn’ defends J2 of hearts from the big blind against a button raise by Fahredin Mustafov with T8. Antonius flops bottom pair, then turns a flush draw. He calls bets on the flop and turn, before a disastrous A of diamonds comes on the river. Mustafov unloads the clip and puts Antonius all-in. Antonius tanks before making the correct call with bottom pair.
Hand 2:
Playing in a high-stakes cash game during a Hustler Casino Live stream, Action Dan finds himself in a heads-up pot with AQo against Henry’s KTo. Dan picks up a wheel draw, which is enough for him to put out a continuation bet. Henry decides to float the flop with the intention of bluffing Dan on later streets. Dan check-calls on the blank turn and then check-calls again against another big bet on the river with just ace-high for the winner.
Hand 3:
Tom Dwan finds himself in a huge €1,000/€2,000 cash game during Triton Madrid. With the seven-deuce game on, Dwan check-raises Rui Cao on an ace-high rainbow board with 72o. Cao, with only eight-high himself, doesn’t believe Dwan and makes the call. Dwan bets again on the turn when another ace falls and again Cao makes the call, both with no pair & no draw. Dwan can’t find the third and final barrel on the king river, and in the end, has to check-fold to Cao’s crazy all-in.
Hand 4:
Nik Airball and Rampage Poker battle it out in another high-stakes cash game on the Hustler Casino Live stream. Rampage opens with Big Slick, then just calls the 3-bet from Airball. Rampage quickly calls Airball down on all three streets with just ace-high and confidently turns over the winner, crushing Airball’s soul in the process.
Hand 5:
Alex Foxen and Adrian Mateos, two of the best high-stakes tournament players in the world, are involved in a blind-vs-blind battle during the final table of a PokerGO Cup event. Foxen picks off Mateos' turn and river bets with just A9o. He reads Mateos for exactly what he has: a missed gutshot with 98 of hearts.

foxen raised strong before the flop- then raised weak after the flop- then checked and called a bet on the turn- foxen checked again and the opponent made a mostly pot sized bet on river- so he bet strong then bet weak then checked as if inducing a bet- it appears that he thot his A 9 was still good- thats a big decision and a big call- like w A 9 heads up- yeh he thot his A 9 was still good

@pokercoaching Johnathon why I seem to do better in love cash games and live tourneys than online micros? I can’t get a range on these players . They’re playing and calling everything. Do you think because the money is so minute that they don’t care about losing it? Do you recommend I at least play 1/2? At least the players will be playing fundamentally good and rational.

The thing is, these seem like amazing reads, but they explain why there are so many bad calls. So it's like of the dozen bad calls, you have 2-3 that are actually correct.

Not only do I think you missed one, but in my opinion, I think you missed #1. For the record, my poker knowledge is light years behind yours, but I would still say you missed the ultimate read, and I’d love to hear your thoughts on why you’d agree or disagree: Doug Polk lays down a flopped straight vs a higher flopped straight from Phil Hellmuth. Update: I went back and watched it, and it looks like Polk only had like $7,700 invested and Phil shoved for some ridiculous amount, so maybe not #1, but still a top tier read, I’d say. But maybe not 🤷🏽‍♂️

Not a top tier read at all, any one who has studied Phil at all knows he's only making that move with the top end of the straight.

The Dwan vs Cao hand is super sus, this is the hand that changed my opinion of Triton. If the J4 Robbi hand is sus then that hand at Triton for sure deserves an investigation.

Dwan is going to raise higher with Any ace preflop, and he was hollywooding super hard with the 7-2 game on, plus Cao cares more about being a legend that made this play than the EV. I don't think there's any reason to suspect more than that.

While I’m not saying you’re wrong, 😅 do believe he was correctly putting Dwan on 7/2 given the 10k per player bounty. Additionally, these stakes are virtually nothing to these super wealthy Asian businessmen whom, incidentally, don’t like getting bluffed. IMO, the Robbie hand has additional elements/people involved that contribute to the overall ‘shadiness’ of the hand. Whereas, I fully believe he was calling a river shove with 8 high knowing he could easily be wrong… and would simply reload for another Million. 🤷🏻‍♂️

He's literally blocking the hand he's supposedly putting him on? Sure that still leaves 12 combos of 72 off, but I gotta believe that does make a big difference...even if this is like a nickel and dime game for most of the population.
