Most of those I have early to mid-game. Surveying, in particular, lends a very tactical feel to combat. Survey the battlefield. Find where the turrets and higher level enemies are. Let's you really prioritize your targets. Also, if you go the sniper route, Surveying lets you pick out an enemy and visualuze where the head shot will be, even if the target blends in with the background. It's not just for planetary surveys.

tbf, you can do Boost Pack shenanigans to avoid dealing with sprinting too much. You can also MASSIVELY over-encumber yourself (talking like 10k or more) and it will drain your entire O2 bar in like a second. Then you can pop Personal Atmosphere (which doesn't actually make you not use O2, it gives you incredible O2 regen) in order to get it back to 100% quickly, and then you can repeat it for the duration of the ability. Made it WAY faster to finish Fitness with much less downtime.

Good list. Depending on your playstyle, I would add isolation from the social tree. The more you level up, the less you need companions(they get in the way a lot anyway) and the damage and resistance the perk offers is great.

One thing I want to correct. I was like you with Jump Pack Training, I actually only leveled it up once and thought it was fine. Rebinding the jump key makes the boostpack faster?! Is that intended or bugged? I've been so disappointed with the skip packs especially as I had imagined basically having an agile "bullet dodge" type of movement skill. So I've just been hopping around with a balanced one. Because right now I'm only at lvl 1 boost pack and they ae useful to get out of a jam at times, but they aren't really helping me move that much faster with limited O2...I wasn't going to level it anymore.

Fitness is a amazing skill and should be done early imo, you can do it very fast at an outpost by making yourself over encumbered and running against a bed to deplete oxygen, then sleep 1 hour to instantly refill it and then rinse and repeat... Easy 👍

Agree. I built an outpost to craft adaptive frames. Crafted enough to get 4 perk points which also seriously overencumbered me.Then I built a bed on each end of a hab then sprinted from one bed to another, sleeping at each bed to replenish O2. Leveled up fitness in less than 30 minutes.

Better than an outpost is to do it in New Atlantis. Get severely over encumbered and sprint into side of the tram. Activate the tram and select any other district. The tram ride completely resets your oxygen and is faster than waiting an hour in bed.

@@jaredcaulley4016 it's waaaay faster to use a bed to sleep for an hour than the tram in New Atlantis because that takes a full loading screen between districts which doesn't happen until AFTER a slow cutscene animation of the Tram leaving the platform... Sleeping for an hour takes less than 2 seconds. 🤷‍♀️ It doesn't need to be at an outpost, you can do it inside of your ship if you weigh enough to make the oxygen deplete quickly. Outpost is just useful for multiple things like crafting for XP too so you can level up the skills with perks as you grind.

Not sure if anybody has already suggested it, but I figured out that I could level up my fitness perk really fast, by becoming HEAVILY over-incumbered (when I was at my outpost, I made thousands of adaptive frames) then I used the personal atmosphere power, because you can drain your oxygen in a second or two when you're so over-incumbered, but then if you stand still for a second, it replenishes in a second or two after that, rinse and repeat. Boost assault training Tier 4 is the best perk in the game. When you jetpack and scope, it slows the game down 70% so you can kill all your enemies around you Matrix style, not only that, but because the game slows down 70%, so does your boost fuel expenditure, so you last 70% longer in the air tearing down your foes in a cool and satisfying way. It's a game changer and definitely a sleeper skill.

If you use boostpacks properly, you do not need stamina at all. Remember to bind Alt as your alternate jump key and use it. Start sprinting, jump, press Alt to boost forward. You end up moving faster than you would by sprinting AND you regen stamina/o2 while doing it. Only boostpack training 1 is required, but the other tiers are great to have. Did I mention you move much faster than sprinting? The only time you should run out of O2 is if you are overburdened , or you are running around in a tight hallway with no space to jump+boost. It's pretty unusual to be in tight hallways long enough to spend all your O2 and if you are overburdened all the extra o2 in the world isn't going to do much.
@Sotanaht01
@Sotanaht01 11 ай бұрын
Also it goes without saying that boostpack training doesn't belong in an "endgame" perks video. Because it should be the absolute first perk you get in the game, no exceptions.

@@dawgbone98 I've never seen a use for fitness or the personal atmosphere. The power could be alright if you are seriously overburdened, but that blocks fast travel so it's not something I let happen unless I'm doing crafting, and I can live with being at low HP while I do that. FYI, O2 damage does not kill you. You can sprint forever no matter what you are carrying, as long as you don't mind being at about 5-10% HP all the time. If you are just traveling between outposts and crafting stations it's not an issue.

Have to disagree on Fitness. Personal Atmosphere completely invalidates the O2 mechanic. You can sprint until nearly max CO2, pop PA, and just keep going for a very long time, repeat PA as necessary. Unless you're doing a no powers challenge run or something, it's completely skippable. On the tech tree: * Boost Pack Training 4 is a game changing mobility perk on PC, an absolute must have. * Engine Systems 4 is either bugged or just doesn't work for me. Enemies have never disengaged while boosting, and I've gained over 20 levels just from space combat. * All of the ship weapon damage perks are a waste of points. As long as you're running the best available parts, you'll do more than enough damage to dominate pretty much any space engagement.

I play an overencumbered build. You play it by ignoring being overencumbered and not putting skill points into anything related to weight. You can get a backpack that reduces the impact of being overencumbered by 75% and then you use personal atmosphere to refresh your O2 once the red meter fills up. The time it takes for O2 to run out and for the red meter to fill up completely matches the time it takes to refresh your power. So you can sprint indefinitely. 😏 The downside is you can’t fast travel on foot.

Just dump the resources in your ships inventory, on your character. Then sprint between the bunks. One step drains your O2. Sleep for 1hr. Repeat 170x - You can do the whole thing on your ship with 3 skill points. 😃

I think this is a good list, though not my personal top 5 and I think your commenters may need to consider that everybody gets to play differently. I've played through the game several times, and the first one was the only time I joined Constellation immediately. The forced companions are just tedious, the quests railroad you into predetermined outcomes, and traveling to a hundred similar planets to do the exact same thing, whether its gather an artifact or a power, gets old really fast. Any of the other major storylines are better, in my opinion. So, in my case, I will definitely take Fitness since I won't have access to Personal Atmosphere. Maxing that skill out and increasing oxygen either through perks and/or spacesuit mods definitely makes that a powerful and impactful choice, unlike 90% of the skills available. Clearly you are having as much fun building ships as I have, so I mostly agree with your choices in that regard, though I skip Engines 4. 45 power points vs 40 with the best reactors in game can also make a huge difference, but many hundreds of hours in game and I've moved on to play around with what mods are available. It is a totally different experience to get access to all the parts you need right in New Atlantis. Its also quite nice to make ships that look sleek and sexy instead of bristling with guns (you can run a batch file once that opens up glitching parts to fit wherever to a whole new level.) and if you want a class A fighter with 2 reactors and/or minimal landing gear, you can make that happen.

I got one point in medicine. That was more than enough for me. I got a ton of med packs, Trauma Packs, and Emergency packs on my character AND my ship. Never needed to invest more than that one point. But I'm playing on normal in endgame part (but not NG+ yet). I'm gonna guess that changes if you're playing on very hard. And people, get that Star Eagle as soon as possible. That ship is a beast, even in the endgame. With all those crew perks and your skill tree ( and an occasional upgrade on weapons), you're gonna kick Starborn's ass. And when you wanna make money, sell the ammo you don't need. Ammo is such an underestimated source of income. It weighs nothing, and you find it everywhere. I've made a LOT of money just by selling ammo that I don't use. And ammo problems that people seem to be having is something I have yet to experience. I've never run out of ammo for the weapons I use.

He said 3:07 "You've got a lot of money, and you don't really need to get more." Then he says 3:34 "Ammo is expensive, for one, you don't want to be constantly dumping credits just for the ammo you like." If you've got that kind of money, why not spend it on ammo? Better yet, if you're doing the trick where you craft thousands of Adaptive Frame in order to level up. Carefully walk those Adaptive Frames over to a merchant like Jemison Mercantile, buy out all of their ammo, and then sell the frames. You will make a profit and accumulate a metric f**kton of ammo. Then you don't need to waste perk points on either of those.

I personally think the scavenging 4th perk is garbage... it's rare that players will even track specific resources in the first place but when looking around and looting you also need to open up the scanner which I virtually never do just for it to highlight the items that I'm tracking if they happen to be there at all... When you're end game and have nothing else to invest in yeah it's an extra perk I guess, but I'd leave it until probably the very last tbh because it just doesn't come off as important at all.

A faster way to level up fitness is to get WAY overloaded/overencumbered. Because your OX levels are used faster the more your are overencumbered, going nuts on weight will use your OX far more quickly. To the point where, when you're just at ludicrous amounts of overencumberance (pick up EVERYTHING in a "dungeon", and then some), you might make 5-6 steps and immediately be in the red. 5-6 steps further, you're at health usage levels. This can also be done through crafting things, or mining things, or... you get the idea. XD Also, I believe that the gun modification perk is invaluable. Mostly because I play with silenced weapons, and my entire build (just like when I play Skyrim) is stealth-based. So finding a gun with a silencer that has good mods attached is very often difficult. But with those perks, I can do that no problem. Combine that with the rifle + semi-auto + armor ignore + critical perks... You have yourself an eraser instead of a gun.

Fitness isn't necessary imo, I just ran out of enough oxygen to upgrade it to rank 3 and I'm on ng+ five. I just use the boost pack more bc it's faster

What difficulty do you like to play on in this game? Feel like tthat matters a lot as well for what perks are most useful. I don't agree that fitness is useful, because you can just use personal atmosphere power to instantly refill all your o2 and clear CO2 builduo. Well I guess it's useful but it's a big investment unless you allready have a lot of perk points.

To me, Commerce is a trap skill. Yes you get more money for selling, and spend less when buying. Around lvl 60, or with a good crafting outpost, you want the vendors to have more money just to buy the stuff you got. Without the skill, I find weapons that nearly drain a standard merchant in 1 or 2 weapons. My most recent outpost visit left me with 13k com relays (nearly 200k credits to sell without commerce. I'm buying out the ammo types I use just so they have more money to buy my stuff with. It took 3 full rounds to sell them all to all the merchants I knew of. I sided with SysDef, and I am thinking I should have sided with the pirates only to have more vendors to sell to. I don't need stamina. Running jumps and boostpacking over the land works when I need to get my stamina up. Eventually you slow down, but I can boost-travel with a balanced pack with max boost pack training. The lower the gravity, the better.

Scavenging is useless for the exact same reason you said commerce is useless. In the end game there are only a few ammo types worth having depending on your build. Since a bunch of traders have a lot of ammo, use your extra credits to start stocking up early and ammo is never a problem late game. The only skill worth having in the social tree is Isolation, and you might as well level up commerce so you can buy more ammo that is relevant to your build and buy ship parts for significantly less. Because there are so many traders with everything you need to do just about anything, credits literally replace the need for a bunch of skills in this game.

If you thought the scavenging section of this video was about credits then I don't think you heard what I was talking about. I literally said you don't need credits in endgame generally.

If the focus is on _end game_ perks, I have to respectfully disagree. There's an ability you get later on, along with suit mods, that makes Fitness a near worthless perk. I regret investing points into that skill at all. Wellness is arguably better than Medicine since those scale with max HP. So if we're talking endgame, Piloting, Ship Design, and Weapon Engineering are non-negotiable. I'd probably add Spacesuit Design to that even though the last perk is not good. After that, technically Special Projects is required for high level crafting, but you only need 1 point in that skill for that. Automated Systems is probably the last one I'd add. Turrets effectively make the rest of the ship skills (not mentioned) unnecessary since you're killing enemies before they can do serious damage.

I hate to disagree with your list, but.. yeah. Maybe the 5th one, but even that one is kind of a stretch. fusion... 5 points is nice, but certainly not "crucial". All i spend those 5 points in is 5 extra engine (2 full weapons, plus shields, and rest into engines. and before you all say "oooh.. you need 3 full weapons. you dont. Medicine.. dont get shot, you dont need meds. lol.. sorry, this is a playstyle thing for me. if you are committed to a melee build, yeah, you might want this. everyone else... eh. Scavenging? no. my 2 primary weapons have 11 shot clips or less and 5k+ rounds. ammo types are rare only if you are using an uncommon one. I buy ammo from 3 vendors as i sell all my loot. it's never been an issue. Fitness... so you can sprint? personal atmosphere makes this irrelevant "Late game". also, you dont have to stand still to regen oxygen, you can still walk. even encumbered, you can still move. The engine boost one is interesting, but enemy ships just die.. im usually lucky to close the distance to them before everyone else is dead. Id agree with one of the other comments that Isolation is way better than any of these.

Loving the vids lately! When you talk about your main character and then the fact you have 2 others, what are you referring to? Is your main character the one bfor NG+ and the others are ones aftr? And are you just loading old saves to get back to those ones? Sorry if its a silly question. Just super curious.

I find commerce to be a bad skill to invest in and I don't understand why people like it so much. I have so much stuff to sell, no NPC or cluster of NPCs is ever going to have enough money for me to sell everything I'm trying to sell; even if I buy all their ammo and resources. This problem gets worse as my stuff sells for more and I can buy for less, because they're going to have even less money to spend on me. And all the time I've spent waiting for the vendors to reset, could've been spent getting more loot to sell. Pure waste of points, IMO. You're better off just taking scavenging.

@@onihr1 Selling ships you mean? Good call, I hadn't considered that because I never sell the ships. I always end up using them for different projects, but I removed the 10-ship restriction on day 1. I could see it being useful in that scenario, but I would then just never pick up other loot (besides advanced legendaries), because that's going to slow you down so much that the extra money from selling ships isn't worth it.

@@onihr1 Thanks! Thinking about what you said, I suppose if you're someone who loves building ships, this skill could also be useful, because stuff will cost a lot less to build. But if you're like me just running to a POI to kill some enemies when you're out of money, I'm still convinced just investing in carry weight, picking up everything by spamming the pickup button on every enemy regardless and selling everything for less is going to be more efficient than having to look at what you're grabbing from enemies and having to wait to sell all your loot, etc. I'm going to test this to see what gives me more money/hour. I'm curious to see what the differences are.

I find it an interesting perk just for my playstyle. I go around with the smallest endgame starship I've managed to build, no crew, no companion, and I pick ONLY what I really need. No weapons, despite how worthy they can be, no suits, not even ammo types I'm not gonna use. Just as I'd do if It was actually me. So I really need to get the max out of my credits/stuff since I don't have much. I find it a much more interesting playstyle, the game is stupidly easy ecen on very hard when you can afrord more than what you'll ever be able to spend

Your first "most important skill" is not important at all since 90% of weapon systems do not need more than 1 power in them to do Max damage. More power does affect reload, but with 3 systems, if you are using the best in the game, and especially if you got the skills in their perks, you melt high level ships with ease and almost never have to reload
