Uttar Pradesh: - The land where many gods are born or lived - The land that used to be the center of many major north Indian empires including the mughals, -The land where urdu finds its roots -The land where the most muhajirs in Pakistan find their ancestry - The land where you see life's journey on the ganga and banaras -The land that was once famous for its tehzeeb - the land of kathak - The land that used to be a called United Provinces of East India this was the land where the first cries of azaadi were chanted, in meerut. - This is a historic land along with bihar, and UT has the oldest temples and the most beautiful remnants of ancient history. The years of bollywood's anti-UP and bihar rehtoric, backed by the thukre family, really did injustice to the beauty of this state. If you watch old bollywood from the 50s and 60s the majority of the films that showed wealth, polite society and family values centered around UP or Bihar. When Thukrey's came to power they projected their own image on to what was starting to happen in UP but in a small minority cases, which eventually gained more and more precedence as bollywood became more and more violent and villagers started coming to towns. But the UP wale were mocked in many states by using terms lik e "UP wale bhaiya" because in UP it was a normal manner of speaking that you would call even the rikshaw wale bhaiya as a sign of respect and politeness. This is something many muhajirs took with them to Pakistan but instead of bhaiya it because bhai, and while UP was mocked for it, these terms became more and more normalized through out India, by calling everyone bhaiya or instead of bhaisab or mausaji, or tao, or babuji, like it was done years ago. My father's side migrated from West Punjab, so I can tell you this from experience, when 1947 happened many Punjabi families were relocated to UP, and many people from UP did not like them. They thought they were barbaric and uncultured, there was a lot of stigma towards the punjabis in UP, and my own grandmother who was from UP was like that. Punjabis when they migrated in to UP really did change a lot of culture in UP. Greater noida/Noida is where I am from. It's close to delhi.
