It wasn't even forty years ago that this was exactly how people worked in Europe. No masks, hardly any gloves. However, there were safety shoes and goggles. And the machines in the video were probably the exact same ones that were later exported as scrap.

Yes, and we drove a motorcycle without a helmet, a drove car without a seat belt, ice hockey players and alpinists without helmets. I was in a country in Eastern Europe in 2004, and there they laughed at me because I used seat belt. In the same country, the use of seat belts was introduced a few years later, and then they were no longer laughing.

Over there it’s different. I lived in a third world country until I was almost 19 and during that time I did a lot of hands on/ construction type work. People there don’t have or even need the tools we have here in the west. They have the tools they have and as sketchy as it is rarely ever anyone gets hurt because they’re careful and don’t need labels everywhere telling them the floor is slippery when wet. I also did a lot of construction work in the west. People here get injured way more often than people do over there. That’s just my own observations.

Fail the test and you were fired with no workmans comp. Absolutely as it should be. .. 2 guys were jacking around and one ran over the others fòt with a forklift .. both tested positive. Fired both. Smoked pot at lunch every day. Until they hurt someone. Each other. Pot heads can stay in Moms basement as far as I'm concerned.

I get a sick feeling every time I see these workers pass their hands over or go near unguarded moving belts and wheels on machinery and blades of saws and planing machines. The state of the workshops are deadly hazardous. This total lack of safety regulation is why the west is loosing out on manufacturing on all levels.
