I've run tubeless for years and having a compressor or boost pump is not "the only way" to seat the bead, there are plenty of ways to do it with a regular track pump or even a hand pump.

The boost pump is like a cheetah blaster used for hard to bead automotive tires. I saw someone use a cheetah for a MTB tire, but that's risky, could blow the tire apart. This is a very nice option. Another top notch video from Worldwide Cyclery!! I will order those shoes on the bench before spring.

I have to carry a pretty big hydration pack most of the time when i'm riding. I'm coaching a group of kids on mountainbiking and they all have different tire sizes. so i'm carrying a 24, 26, 27.5 and 29 tube. I'm also carrying spare chain links for 7,8,9,10,11 and 12 speed chains. I also have tire levers, zipties, attendance list, 2 ballpoint pens, first aid kit, a pump and a pretty well equipped multi tool. and i can't realistically fit all of this on my bike with straps so i opt for a backpack. but when i'm riding alone on shorter rides do i strap a tube, tire levers and a pump to my frame and put a big waterbottle on the bike and i'm good to go.

@@Nythos_ shure, but it's not optimal. But a 27.5 works well in a pinch. But I have the "better safe than sorry" mentality. And I can say that I'm happy that I carry these tubes cause they are getting used fairly frequently

Get a Tubolito Tube!!! They are 2X stronger than a traditional tube and only about 1/4 of the weight. They are also smaller in size and very compact. Plus, they come in a rad orange color!
@NDemanuele1
@NDemanuele1 3 жыл бұрын
You guys crack me up with your antics!....LOL. I'm glad you guys brought up the GPS and the frame strap for tubes, etc... A few questions regarding those: 1. GPS: I'm reluctant to buy one because of the cost and also I can't justify spending money on something I already use on my Iphone with Strava and Trailforks. I understand there is more functionality, etc... with a Garmin. Maybe you guys could do a video on the best "bang for your buck" GPS Tech? You're Welcome!...LOL. 2. Frame Strap: I'm tempted to get one to save space, but am concerned that it will mark up or even damage my frame? Has this ever occurred? Lastly, many MTB channels avoid this topic, although it comes with the territory and is inevitable: FIRST AID KITS. I said it!! I used to carry one in my bigger Camelback just in case. What do you guys carry with you if anything? I'm looking for a compact one that has all the essentials including a Tourniquet ( I know, I hate to think about using it, but have heard of some freak accidents). I just bought a Tourniquet and suppose I could consolidate some essentials from my first aid kit and toss it in my hydration pack. Thanks!

A great alternative to using the sketchy Strava app on the Apple Watch is an app called WorkOutDoors. The watch faces are much more customizable, including an on watch GPS map. It automatically uploads to your iPhone. You can easily upload the results and ride info to Strava from your iPhone or directly from your Apple Watch. The iPhone app offers a unique ride summary that shows your “at-that-moment” stats at every point in the ride on the map. Strava has lost too any rides or dropped sections of rides for me to use. WorkOutDoors only gave me a problem once or twice, but being able to upload directly to Strava from the Watch bypassed any rare glitches with sync’ing with my iPhone. Check it out.

For less than the cost of a boost pump, I bought a Ryobi 18v air compressor. It stays in my truck, so no matter what tires I need to inflate (truck or bike) I'm good to go. Some bike specific products are ridiculously overpriced. Heck, you can pick up a compressed air tank - like the ones tow truck drivers use to air-up car tires - for as little as $50. If you don't have a compressor, you can fill it at the gas station when needs be. No pumping required. It's crazy what people will pay to have the "bike" (read: lesser) version of things.

I’ve been riding for more than twenty years and remarkably never had a pair of bib shorts until this past season. I love them but I suppose because I’ve dislocated both shoulders and had multiple separations I can’t wait to get them off my shoulders after a ride. I don’t notice them until the I’m off the bike but it’s the first thing I have to slip out of.

I just mounted a pair of Mountain Kings with the non-boost version of that pump. Did the same with a much softer set of WTB Ranger tires. Having a clean bead and making sure it's evenly pressed around the rim helps a ton. If I'm ever feeling lazy, I keep a Milwaukee M12 Inflator in the truck for airing up and down. That thing inflates bike tires super fast and it takes up far less space than a boost pump.

Everything functions properly kzbin.infoUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L Nothing was damaged in the box aside from a decal on the fork. The decal was missing a piece of a corner but I ended up peeling them off anyways. Assembly is easy BUT make sure you tune up the derailleurs. Both the front and rear need adjusting. I'd advise going to a bike shop but I opted out and put in 10+ hours with the help of KZbin. Ended up fraying a shifter cable but all in all I learned from the experience. The Brakes work well but the front caliper needs adjusting or at least mine did because the rotor was rubbing against the pads. Make sure you swap out the seat, grips, and pedals. For the short run you'll be fine though. I've read that this bike isn't built yet for hard trails but I just need it for the city. PA has some of the worst roads and being in a mountain this was a great choice. Worth the investment!
