People also need to be realistic about what a helmet is for. Helmets are not meant to act like a rifle plate but are designed to protect from fragmentation and can also protect against bumps. That is what they are tested with low velocity charges, to mimic shrapnel and fragmentation.

@@kylebeckman1398 ops core helmets are glorified bump helmets, there is plenty of testing you can look up, the rounds are stopped by the helmet; about 3-4 inches inside the skull. The applique plates stop 7.62x39 ICW the base helmet. Ops Core is shit and is yet another overpriced bullshit company sucking tax money out of cool-guy group's limitless cash supplies due to all the fake claims perpetuated. Rifle rated helmets do exist, pistol rated helmets do exist; Ops Core makes none of them.

@@froggerjohn427 for level 3a soft armor absolutely internal damage can and has been done after catching a bullet but as far as hard plates that will stop .308 the risk of internal damage is low because instead of deforming and having you body absorb the energy the hard plate absorbs much more of the energy leaving the wearer much safer and the forces transferred through to the body can me mitigated with the use of trauma pads behind plates

Man even if you had a helmet that could stop whatever was shot at it,you get your bell rung with a 12 guage slug,that's gonna cause alot of damage.stopping the damn bullet is only half the battle.you would also need to mitigate any and all energy transfer from the projectile to your brain.

At one point they were doing a lot of research about inner helmet suspension so that the helmet contacted your head less and transferred a lot less energy but that seems to have gone out of the window with these crappy new hi cut types everybody has suddenly that barely even cover your head

I cant remember who but it was a top helmet maker claimed their helmet was made in Germany but it was made in China shipped to Germany and then modified and shipped to US

The vid is over a year old but I just used the code yesterday, still works. His link goes to a black helmet and it comes with a camo cover. I bought the OD helmet (doesn't come with a cover)

I don't run the ear muffs hearing protection. I run the in the ear type. That way, if I have to ditch the helmet, I still have hearing protection. I also run a white light because that is more useful for what I need. My eye protection are a good set of glasses. Again, if I need to ditch the helmet I still have eye protection. It does matter what you do and how you're running your equipment.

For ~$1,000 I'd really appreciate third party testing results and full system weight to be displayed prominently on a product page. They all say "Due to the life-saving nature of this product returns aren't allowed" and then a bunch of them bury any evidence it could save a life or give just the shell weight. Sucks that nobody is running KZbin reviews on them, too. Down to basically flipping a coin between three options. And bro literally contradicts himself here on American made quality.

So because low power 9mil round is used and the bullet doesn't penetrate you're good to go. Who fires a low powered round? the bullet doesn't penetrate but there's massive deformation quite possibly causing brain damage what's the point of the helmet again

Community patrol with a team would be the only reason I would wear mine. Intimidation with camo, belt, plate carrier, etc. Basically a "look professional" deal.

This guy has a seriously faulty understanding of helmet mount component compatability. One of the primary jobs of any competent armorer or quartermaster is to make things work together. Whether it's a drop in part, or needs to be modified, you come up with some kind of solution, or you aren't going to be a guy I trust to supply helmets.
