The Falken AT3W is the best tire I have ever owned. They work in every situation amazingly. I have had the same set (285/75/16) for about 4 years on my 80 series Land Cruiser. I am in Minnesota so I deal with a lot of snow and ice but I have taken them west to the mountains and all over the deserts of Utah and beyond multiple times and they work great! The wear characteristics are amazing...maybe too good as I want to go up a size but mine still have so much tread it would be stupid to do it now. They are IMHO way better than the KM2.

I too live in Minnesota and ran the A/T3Ws when they first came out and agree with you, they are extremely good in snow and any terrain you encounter. I am currently running the Toyo Open Country A/T III's which are nearly identical to the Falkens and feel they are equal in terms of performance. My wife runs the Falken A/T Trails on her 2018 Explorer Sport and I can attest to their capabilities as well. I'd definitely run the Falkens and Toyos over BFG's.

Hopefully these new tires will offers some noticable improvements in handling characteristics, and at the least they'll also look significantly better. I live out on the southern Oregon coast, but I work over the road as a long haul trucker. So when I take home time off I have to drive from my company yard to home through a bunch of windy sloping mountain and coastal roads in various weather conditions. About 150 miles one way. Down the road I was thinking of upgrading my suspension, brakes, and wheels too. The stock wheels get the job done, but don't exactly look the greatest. I kinda like the simple appearance of the method wheels, not super flashy, but they look good and are well built.

Falken at3ws are fantastic in all conditions until they get to 1/2 tread (9-10/32) and they lose to much grip especially wet grip and they need to be replaced. i think the MT bajaboss A/T compound and design keeps its wet traction farther through its life and still has decent wet grip when its down to 1/3 tread (6-7/32) tread life remaining. basically you get about 3/32 or about 10k miles of more usable wet/snow traction out of the Baja boss at in my experience on my toyota 4runner.

For work trucks carrying anything more than people, durability and milage is gonna be the 2 most important things on MY checklist. Then overall value for the dollar has to be next. If your buying anything "35 or smaller, it's not the same demands as someone running "37+ all the time. My Scouts see HD towing and plowing duties all year round up in NW Montana. This is my daily driver and as such sees mostly on road use, though I do hit some trails once in a while, nothing to crazy being a sedan. I've had them a bit over 2 years now, and they're still in really good condition. They've performed well through 2 winters. Now I'd go with something different on a Jeep or something that I'd be doing more and more aggressive off road driving with, but these are a great daily driver/occasional light off road use tire.

Just got the Baja Boss AT's, your recommendation and reviews had a lot to do with it. So quiet compared to my old duratracs. They're siiiick so far. Feel like my turning radius has gotten smaller. Also, even though they're heavier than the duratracs, I found the right psi has actually led to better mpg somehow compared to the duratracs. Running them on a 19 Colorado ZR2. 265/65/17

I have to AT3Ws on my 2020 Silverado RST Z71 with 3.0 Duramax. It’s a mostly daily driver for my wife’s commute so it sees mainly hwy/interstate driving. We do occasionally take it off road and I don’t have any complaints with traction, but I have had issues with uneven wear. The only other downside I’ve noticed so far is the weight, there tires are heavy for an all terrain imho, saw a 6mpg drop right away. I also have a JL ecodiesel that is in desperate need of tires and I plan on trying out those new Trail Terrain tires from BFG as that is my daily driver and I would like something that is relatively lightweight, has good on road manners but can handle a variety of off roading as well

Run the falcon AT 215/65/16 on a transit connect. Loved the tire on my very rural mail route but only got about 17k miles and are pretty much slicks now, prob has more to do with not being able to do much with the camber on a transit but I did get 25k on a continental.

It would be interesting to see how the Mickey Thompsons do after about 10,000 miles. That siping will be gone and their snow performance will diminish. That's where I think the Falken outshines them all. The performance characteristics of the Falken should last the life of the tire for the most part.
@TrailBuilt3 жыл бұрын
Will be interesting to see!

No. Almost 20k miles here on my BBAT’s. The siping is deep. For what I’ve run, there’s no way I’d step down to the Falken. Those sidewall biters are no joke. Great wet, dry, excellent mud performance. I’ve heard snow performance is great from a Colorado native. I’ve not been on sand either but based on the tread pattern and my experience, I see no downside coming. The tires are still quiet rotating every 5k. They are heavy though.

Ran the Falken Wildpeaks on my Wrangler for a year. They were fantastic on every terrain except mud. In the wet clay they became racing slicks made of mud and would not self clean at any speed. Granted, even M/T's can have trouble in wet clay. I liked my Falkens so much I'm considering going with their MT if my Milestar Patagonia's ever wear out.

I had a set of the Falken Wildpeak AT3W on my F-150 and at first i was pretty dang happy with them but then after 2 years and about 4-5 32nds run off of them they got very squirrely in any kind of snow pack and ice, to the point of me sliding through stop signs even when approaching at 10 mph or less. So when this first started happening i thought it was the brakes locking up and i went through and put new brakes all the way around with the same issue occurring. So i recently replaced them with the Cooper Rugged Trek after much research and deliberation. I looked at the Toyo Open Country C/T, Hankook Dynapro X/T, Mastercraft CXT, Hercules Terra Trac T/G, The Nitto Ridge Grappler Hybrid and the Nitto Exo Grappler AWT. I can't really give a review on the Coopers yet because we don't have much snow on the ground and the streets are clear. My first impressions of them though is that they are very quiet for how open they are and not as stiff as the Falkens with 40 lbs of air. I forgot to mention the size is 275/65R18 10 ply.
@JGoodZX6R Жыл бұрын
How are you liking the Rugged Treks? I went to en E rated Mastercraft on my F150 and it doesn’t like the extra rotational mass of the E rated (16# heavier per tire), lost 4-6 MPG on interstate, so going back to stock size P rated. How’s MPG on them?
@michaelthola1709 Жыл бұрын
@@JGoodZX6R its not great i get 12-14 in town and 14-16 on the highway. I'm ok with that though because i pull with my f-150 and drive a fair amount of gravel and would rather have a stouter built tire. I hate having flat tires.

I have a set of Cooper AT3 4S tires on my Wrangler. They are very good in the snow and are quiet. They don't come in the common CUV size of 235 /65 /18 though. When my Blazer comes in, I'm considering the Nokian Outpost APT tires and the WRG4 SUV. Perelli also has a new CUV tire the, Scorpion Weatheractive. There are no reviews for this, or the APT tires as of yet. So I'd like to see a review of those. Good video.

I have 85k on my Mickey Thompson Baja ATZ P3 on my Tahoe. 305/55/20. One finally failed. Still had good tread, but went flat on a drive home from work. Upon inspection there was a section of the belt hanging out between the inner sidewall and rim bead. There's no point in just replacing the bad tire with this kind of mileage. It appears my tires have been phased out for the current Baja Boss. Anyhow, the hunt for new tires begins.
