*TOP 5 OLD BUS + FAST* PT 4: REDO Journey on Route 298 | Enviro 400 | LK08FNE/SB E61 | 27th Apr 2024

Here is the fourth but LAST time I have done this route and uploaded it to KZbin! 3 series, 4 journeys of this route and it really goes to show how good it is even after riding it 4 times, and here is last but not least the final episode of this series, episode 5, and it also might be the last time I ride or record this route again… the big 298 series is over! Obviously another great series, this route 298 never fails to impress! This time was a bit of a switch up again, as it’s a different style bus as the last series, which is very old as I mentioned in the title - from 2008 which makes it at about 16 years old, and puts it about in the top 5 oldest buses served by TfL, and was also served by Metroline and First London in the past years which is a great thing about this but also makes it kind of iconic. Moving onto the series now, there’s a good few things to point out to summarise the journey/route experience. Firstly, I wanted to point out how great the driver was, he really was picking up great acceleration and good speed, which is very common to see on this bus route as it’s another reason why the overall route is so good anyway. However, the driver was talking to a person right in front of the driver cabin AGAIN, which also happened before when I was riding on the 298 a month or 2 prior, which is on my channel as well, so scroll through my page and check it out! Anyways, that distracted him a bit throughout the journey, which ultimately slowed him down a bit overall at some parts of the journey which was a bit of a shame, but it’s still fine because he still maintained good speed throughout the whole journey nevertheless, but he could of been a bit faster at times. Secondly, interesting things occurring over time would come with the old age of the bus, which was interesting and a bit amusing 😂 i could figure out that the emergency door flap system was a bit off, i dont quite remember what looked wrong, but it was a visual thing where something looke very wrong with it - I’m 50% sure it should be replaced, but i dont remember seeing it anymore. Another thing with the bus was that the rear bottom seats on the left were quite a bit unstable, I could LITERALLY move one of the seats out of its place a little bit, by wiggling it with a tiny bit of force, as you can see in some parts of the video. It was also very creaky the seats, but it is very common on old Enviro 400s with this kind of old seating design/layout, where some screws can easily get loose. Overall though, was a really good experience and I do reccomend trying this bus/bus route out!
