1997 2500 with 266,000 miles. TPS replaced, death wobble, and usual wear and tear parts. Have ac accumulator leaking problem right now. Still drives just fine.

4th gear hunt, went with a triple disc auto. These things tow like beasts. Everything gets in your when when going uphill!

I have a 2nd Gen Dodge ram 1500 4x4. 5.9 gas. The 46 re transmission tends to heat. And then I get a OD Off light on the dash. The transmission was rebuild in 2020. New radiator at that time also. New TPS, new alternator, new battery cables, reset TV cable, new speed sensor, new thermostat, and more... I changed the fluid and filter couple weeks ago, no trash or metal in the pan or magnet, no signs of anything failing, replaced all the electricals in there pressure. New trans fluid lines including check valve. Added a factory Dodge trans cooler, that helped much but not completely. Checked the relay, replace, check continuity from computer to trans, check vacume line. I have really combed this thing over! Trans shifts nice, no slipping, works great up until it gets hot. Got any ideas?

I had a previous version of this vehicle worst vehicle ever. Was trashed at 44k. Never ran correctly. Just for example. At 4 years old I had replaced 14 headlights, emergency brake cable, rear wheel bearings, 1 alternator, 3 ECMs, all top engine gaskets (still 500 to a quart), headlight switch, front brake calipers and many more parts. The vehicle would buck and jump when cold out. If the humidity was high it would just go form 60mph to 10mph for no known reason. It sometimes would come out of it and sometimes not. On the times when it wouldn't c!ear in half a mile or so it would die and not restart. Let it sit a few hours and good to go for awhile maybe minutes, hours or days. Dealer had no clue. Because of the extended warranty most items were covered. The high humidity issue really became a problem when I moved to high humidity area. That is when that issue started. My experience with Dodge was so bad I never purchased another Dodge, Chrysler, Plymouth or now Ram product since. That was 1979. That was 44 years ago. If the lemon law would have covered it, great, but it didn't at the time based on how it was written.

I have a 2002 Dodge ( 2nd generation ) diesel. After replacing most of the fuel system, I step on the throttle pedal and the truck will not accelerate; replace the throttle sensor, still won’t work! Replaced the alternator, new batteries; dodge dealer couldn’t figure it out….. can you help?

The chassis rots out in the front by the gear box at least in northern states..

crazy i have a 98 ram 4x my dash is still good dose spit and sputter and engine light is in but is the 02 for the cat as it it gutted truck has 367,000 motor is 99 rusty and trusty lol still gose but is a pig with 3inch lift only problems i have had within the 8 years i have had it was front engine seal and water pump and lately been the passenger wheel seal other then that been prity good.

These trucks are complete junk lol. Decent motors... On some of them. That's about it. Ford and Chevy will outlast them all as far as rust / rot. This was why Cummins swaps became the norm. The motors outlasted the trucks.

I learned how to wrench on Cummins ISBs in freightliner step vans, same engine as the dodge (albeit usually paired with an Allison transmission). I rebuilt/replaced more injection pumps on those engines than anything else because the lift pumps would go out and burn up the injection pump, the idiot drivers would never care about power loss. The only other thing on this generation of dodge truck is that there were a few lots of heater cores that were trash right from the factory, the replacement requires disassembly of the entire dash.

We have a2001 dodge ram 3500 turbo diesel. When pulling a hill it bogs down like it’s not getting enough fuel if you put in 4-wheel drive it will then pull like nothing is wrong. What could cause this problem?
