I have a 2015 Impreza from this generation. I’ve had multiple cars with failed wheel bearings but nothing has ever been as loud as this one. I thought both my rear bearings went out because the noise was so bad, but it was just one! They’re quite pricey to fix too but definitely worth it because the noise will drive you mad. Otherwise, I absolutely love this car!

This engine can have headgasket issues, but unlike the previous gen’s engine, it’s not guaranteed to happen. A stuck PCV valve can cause the engine to overheat, which will trash a head gasket. Occasionally check the PCV valve, change oil regularly, and you’ll likely be fine.

The 2012 Subaru Impreza comes with an F series engine, which does not uses timing belt, instead it utilize a timing chain. This engine does suffers from oil leaks from the timing chain housing, but head gaskets issues are not very common.

2012 and up impressions have a timing chain not a belt.timing belt vehicles have plastic front covers. Chain engines have metal. The front oil leak on these models are from the crankshaft seal or the timing cover sealant. Valve body is located on the top of the transmission

Well, maybe its because I'm in New York but between 68,000 miles and 80,000 miles i had to get the frint struts replaced (used loaded struts), replace the radiator because the plastic part cracked, replace the engine mounts, get the rear passenger wheel bearing replaced, get new brake calipers, pads & rotors, fix the parking brake & now my AC doesnt work. That's a problem for next year. Its cost me $6,000 so far and counting 😅

Thankfully I haven't had any of these problems. Quite a few videos mention oil consumption being an issue. The head gasket one just hasn't happened yet. All of the non turbo engines seem to get that problem eventually.
