Great informative videos! I’m currently studying the Veterans Benefits Manual to prepare for the claims representative exam to become accredited. I was told by an attorney this was the best resource for everything VA related. I would love to see a video covering this topic. Especially since the VBM has sooo much information, people new to this profession (especially non-attorneys) might not know how much to study, how to read the citations, where to look, etc.

A FYI for all veterans living in 2:03 Tennessee, Optum is a subsidiary of United healthcare, Optum is contracted to outsource veterans but I had a PTSD C&P for Dec 4th and it was cancelled by Optum and Optum scheduled me for it at the local Optum located on old Broadway, this is by VA contractor regulations a crime. If you had a C&P done by Optum call your patients advocate and dispute their findings and request a new C&P exam not associated with Optum or any of its secondary.

QUESTION… I’m retiring soon and will be submitting a BDD claim. Can you claim more than one pain or muscle/skeletal issue? For example can you claim bi-lateral shoulder pain, and neck pain, amd knee pain? I heard you could only submit one “pain” or muscle-skeletal issue? Thanks in advance!

I've been rated at 70 and my mental health provider believes that it is low. But I don't understand how they only paid me from the time I made my claim some years back and it happened to me over 40 years ago. I need some serious help. Thank you for your time.

Do VA raters consider what is on the sections Criterion A-I on the DBQ? I have alot of symptoms listed on the criterions that weren't marked for the symptoms.

Can you get a ptsd diagnosis from your own personal psychologist or does it have to cone from a VA Dr.?
@Sheesh1215 ай бұрын
I had my c&p exam today for my mental health. The Dr. was easy going and he did all the talking. He didn't ask me about my time prior to service, during service or after service. He didn't talk about anything? He said I agree with you having PTSD and said he will put in the remarks that I need "intensive inpatient treatment for my PTSD" I'm not sure if that is a good thing or not. Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

The definition of a veteran is someone who served in the military for at least 90 days and at least one of those days was during wartime. If someone was never in combat and even if that person never left the United States, by definition they are veterans. To the best of my knowledge that was how it was considered years ago. There is non service compensation and there is service connected benefits. Non service compensation pays less than service connected benefits. Depending on the rating. If the VA takes care of those people that have conditions pertaining to the civilian sector then why don't they take care of the people out there that actually did the fighting? Some people have been denied VA benefits for reasons that do not make any sense. The most important thing is for the department of defense to keep accurate records and share them with the VA. If someone serves in a conflict that is not a declared war, that person is not considered by definition to be a veteran. The whole system is all messed up! The people in most need of veterans help both medically and psychiatric are denied and thrown into the civilian system. The people who have civilian problems are being treated by VA professionals. Does this make any sense? If you want to wage wars you better take care of your veterans! I heard an older gentleman say something years ago. He said... " A nation that does not take care of it's veterans shall be forgotten" . All screwed up. Sick and suffering because I don't understand this nation nor do I understand this world.

I would like to know what to put into my letter of support for my ex husband's claim for PTSD. He lost his best friend and roommate while there, we lost almost 1)3 of our post to injuries, never knowing their date once they were evac, and we were only 17 that were left behind after everyone else was evaced. Would that be enough to help him. How elaborate do I get in details.

I was in OIF 2007 and while the truck ahead of me was blown up resulting in a KIA, i arrived at the tail end of a documented skirmish to find bodies and did have some shots impact near us. I don't have a combat action ribbon. For the sake of combat PSTD VA claims, would I qualify for combat PTSD category?

Yes you were deployed in a combat theater in war time

Go to an outside psychiatrist letters from your significant other... I don't even have to know you The proof is all over your story and everybody who knows you... It was hard for me to ask my best friend to write a letter that I would never read about what happened Before & After.... Please keep trying don't be a homeless vet

Good to know. So I got out in 2012. Deployed to Iraq 2009-2010. Got my CAB during that deployment. I just submitted a claim for PTSD a week ago all these years later. I got scheduled for an exam next month. Do I need a diagnosis first? Or can the examiner diagnose me? Is my question. Thanks for the help.
@LostSoulsmusic222 ай бұрын
@@mikevasquez3949 I got a diagnosis while in service of 2 mental health disorders and was treated by the VA behavioral health clinic for years but not diagnosed with PTSD. So when I filed my claim I went to my VA psychiatrist and got a diagnosis of PTSD with her so that would be in my record before my C&P exam. however the C&P examiner does have the power to diagnose you. Just make sure you explain all the symptoms and how they impair your life as well as what you experienced at war that would be seen as traumatic. A CAD acts as proof that you definitely went through combat and trauma so they can't say you didn't as long as you describe your symptoms and how it affects your daily life then it's an easy 70% rating!
