I agree with your list mostly: Memorial, Blackhorse, Gus, El Dorado, Wildcat of the early 2000's, and most course with the word "Cypress" in its name. Gus has no equal for its natural terrain (undulation).

Gus and Memorial for sure! A real sleeper pick and its greens are suspect at times… but Clear Creek is always fun to me, no homes on the course, fun set of interesting holes and some of the par 3’s are set into the land so nicely. Sharpstown has a ton of history and I think would be a perfect candidate for the “Gus Wortham” treatment. I think it has the bones to be a good track, if it got a redesign.

@@txsurf87 Sharpstown getting the Gus Wortham treatment would be really nice!

I was going to let you slide when you chose Memorial as your number one. But if you have High Meadow Ranch on your list it has to be #1 or #2. HMR lets you play so many different shots, the elevation changes are great, the course design is great, and its always in great shape. The only negative is the drive out there. I cant believe you ranked Gus W and Cypresswood ahead of HMR.

Haven't played it since the reno. Traditionally, very good course and very challenging. I'm a fan. Need to get back out there!

Cypresswood Tradition course is good but far too crowded now. Cypress course is fun but ok. Blackhorse has some great holes mixed with some very average cookie cutter holes. Highland pines, Augusta pines, and high meadow are up there. River plantation is near Conroe on 45. Wildcat courses are great but my god the course is confusing as hell.

Ya all good points. Highland Pines might be the best public course in Houston now. It just so new when we recorded and I haven’t been to Augusta pines in forever. I also have a love/hate relationship with Wildcat 🤣. I’ll have to go check out River Plantation

best public courses in north/northwest houston: highland pines and high meadow ranch

Agreed. Highland Pines should have been on the list. It was still pretty new when we recorded the video. It might be best public course in the greater Houston Area.

If you really wanted to stretch and include Galveston, Moody Gardens could have been mentioned.

Galveston is just out of reach, but probably worth mentioning

Sharpstown deserves a mention for being the most awesome people's course. Have to ignore the number of wrists and backs it must have ruined for its rock hard fairways
@3underparpod Жыл бұрын
🤣🤣 it’s definitely one of the peoples courses. But due to the number of hurt wrists and backs, we had to keep it off the list 😂

Good list guys but NO WAY Tour18 should be on this list ! Love Gus Wortham even though you need an Uzi to get in and out of there ! Best thing about HMR is renting the golf boards to get around the course! Agree with really missing River Ridge ( and also Old Orchard in Richmond)!
@3underparpod Жыл бұрын
LOVE the call back to Old Orchard! Tour 18 might have been reaching a bit haha
