I love a cove balcony and agree with everything you said, especially being close to the water. My favorite part of being at sea is the sea itself. However, you didn't mention one of my favorite things about a cove balcony. On most decks, to get from one end of the ship to the other, you have to go around, over, under, or through restaurants, shops, atriums, attractions, and who knows what. On the second deck, there is always a straight, level passageway from bow to stern.

Like you , we have tried every type of cabin (except suite), and cove balcony is by far my favorite ! I enjoy a regular balcony , but LOVE a cove balcony. The view ,and sound of the water is so soul cleansing to me . The privacy makes it feel like you are totally alone , even on a ship of thousands .

We got a cove balcony on our last cruise (Horizon, 2019), and I'll never go back to anything else! I love the sense of privacy, the closeness to the water, and the incredible views. Also, absolutely on point with the proximity to the gangway while in port. Great video! We've got a cove balcony on our next cruise on the Mardi Gras!

Was that a family harbor suite? Those by far are my favorite rooms on Carnival. You get access to the lounge and you are close to the water. Doesn't get any better than that.

The cove balcony on the new Excel class is even better! It has a balcony just like upper balconies. Meaning, it’s open from side to side, no metal window. And below the rail is clear plexiglass not metal. And if you pick your room, look at above deck plan & make sure you have a lifeboat above you. We had heavy rain first 2 days on Mardi Gras & the lifeboats kept us dry. On sunny days we had shade. Love coves on Excel class.

I have never considered a cove balcony before but you make it sound so good! One thing I wouldn’t like about it is that there wouldn’t be as much light in the room. I love a sunny stateroom.

Because of your video we cruised on a Cove balcony 3/2020, right before everything was shut down. IT WAS AMAZING!!!! I mean THE BEST. We like it way more than the regular balcony and inside cabins. I love water, so tranquil. This exceeded our expectations. Thank you!

THe big reason for me also is I tend to get sea sick so been told to stay lower mid ship so being on cove balcony it's best plus my husband loves it being 1. Close to the water 2. best sunrise/sunset like you said 3. easy access 4. close to everything 5. less movement on ship and best location as far as I'm concerned. I agree with you.

I've stayed in a regular balcony, an aft balcony and an inside. NOTHING beats a cove. I don't even consider ocean view because if I'm going to pay to upgrade from interior, I'm just going all the way to balcony. But truly, this is the very best cabin you can get other than a suite. And honestly, for a regular sized suite, I'd even be on the fence.

It was between a cove and the Aft extended but it overlooked the pool. I would hate that!! So I opted for this but was nervous. I was put on the waiting list for a different room. Thanks for the additional info. My first cruise was an outside cabin, just above the waterline, and I loved it. Now, I can't do any category less than a balcony cabin. We ofte did suites and mini- suites with Mom so she had enough room to get around with her walker. Being able to sit outside anytime of day or night and listen to the ocean is the biggest reason I cruise. I've contemplated a cove balcony in the past but wondered if it was a smoother "ride" being closer to the water line or a rougher ride??? But I'm not sure I'm sold on the idea of being underneath the lifeboats.

If anyone ever gets a chance, you absolutely must book a family harbor suite. We booked the family harbor suite on carnival vista last year. So many perks especially if you already like the cove balcony’s. It’s basically bigger than the cove balcony, you’re still close to the waterline, it’s got two bathrooms, access to family harbor lounge, which is great for port day breakfast so you won’t have to go up to lido deck and the crowds and the kids got there own spot in the room

Thank you for posting this! I have a Cove Balcony booked on the Celebration this coming November 2024. I booked it for the price, and figured it was a cheaper way to have a balcony that we didn't plan to spend much time in anyway. We currently are located mid ship port side, with no life boats on top of us. And just a slight concern is our cabin is directly under Cherry on Top and Java Blue. Hopefully we won't hear anything over our heads. I was considering a regular balcony offer for another $145 which would be on a higher floor, but after seeing this video I will keep it as is. I am only concerned that the actual balcony itself on the cove is smaller than a regular. Just wondering if that is the case.

I think you are going to be pleasantly surprised. Depending on the ship you will be about 30-50 above the water at that height the ship doesn't rock as much as you would think. What you will probably notice more than anything is the sound of the water since you are so close. That could be a good thing or bad thing depending on whether you enjoy that type of sound. I can assure you one thing you will have an experience like none other on the balcony, day or night. Grab a glass of your favorite adult beverage and watch a sunset and or sunrise and you'll be glad you tried it. Just remember to celebrate life you are on a cruise what can be better than that?

However, we never considered a cove balcony, and, to be completely honest with you, out of the two of us, only my wife had heard of it before. After watching this, I have gotten very curious. I like you were on the fence. We were taking our 7 year old on her first cruise and I didn't know if she would be able to see as much down in the cove. To my surprise she loved being close to the water and she enjoyed falling asleep too the sound of the water. Yes you can hear it! She loved it so much that she was upset that we stayed in a balcony cabin on the MSC Seaside. It truly is a nice experience. Try it once, beside its only 7 days out of your life. Be well. Glad to hear you booked a Cove. One of the hidden perks is the proximity to deck three....up one flight of stairs and you are ready to get off the boat..and walk down two flights to get off at ports. Also you are one floor below main dining. So if you need to run back to the room you can and you have extra time to get ready. I can go on and on such great rooms. Ty for taking the time to share.
