You are herded like cattle in and out. Unless you pay Rs 500, Rs 1000 or more to bypass the long, long, long line. My wife and I visited the Padmanabha Swamy Dévasthanam in Thiruvanandapuram last November but the line went all around the building, would have taken 2-3 hours in line, and they were not accepting donation based entry at that time of day so we left. It is interesting that Vishnu Dévasthanams are many times more popular (therefore more rich) than Shiva Dévasthanams.
