@elliotberg45724 жыл бұрын
There's really only one sub genre to Riddim Dubstep and that is Liquid Riddim. Like all this talk about sub genres this and that, most of these so called sub genres are made up by people who didn't even make Riddim Dubstep in the first place. The two first ones would be the only ones to really qualify and they're not the best tunes (and fuck monxx), a better example would be someone like Subfiltronik or AD who took this style of Dubstep to a new level and really laid ground for us Riddim Dubstep producers. The "Modern Riddim" tunes are heavily leaning toward brostep especially the PhaseOne tune, even the tune with Infekt and Virtual Riot. Yes, I know Infekt is makes lots of riddim dubstep and has done a lot for the scene but that doesn't change what this particular song is and yes, it says riddim in the title... WELL, all I can say is that VR seems to be feeding of the popular trend which is calling anything you make Riddim. I would say these tracks are either Brostep or Briddim, the influences are there but it's just not enough for it to classify as Riddim. That's the next point, Briddim. Briddim is Brostep with Riddim influences, yes? Therefore it would be a Brostep sub genre if anything. Typically when someone talks about Modern Riddim or perhaps New Age Riddim, they talk about people like Aweminus, Saigga, Drippy, Hukae and Senri. They are people who have taken a new approach on it but still largely remain within the realm of Riddim Dubstep. Melodic Riddim, now this one is strangeee. First one "Unicorn Blood" is pretty much just some sort of future bass/color bass with brostep growls, I'm not sure where this one even got mixed up. As for the second track "Wrong Warp", I see the influence and I absolutely disagree that this is Riddim Dubstep or so called "Melodic Riddim". This would be a bit of a more experimental Briddim track, not sure where the melodic part comes in as I know most OG Riddim Dubstep tracks even have more Melodic elements going on in the background. I deny that Melodic Riddim is even a sub genre, it's a style and good examples would be I7 and Benzmixer. They have the super melodic sound going on and still managing to keep the Riddim fully intact. As for Future Riddim, I've never even understood why people say call this music Riddim. Maybe it's because the people who make it started off making Riddim Dubstep, it's really only Future Bass/Color bass that sometimes has a clap typically found in Riddim. First one, just a future bass tune. Now the last one is tricky, this one has many characteristics of brostep like the long intros wíth lots of different things going on, half the tune pretty much is DnB but I do hear some of the features that modern melodic riddim tunes have which can definitely cause confusion. I do think this one shares more features with the new wave of Riddim Dubstep though so I think it's reasonable to say it is. I've wasted way too much time on this comment but I just wanna wrap it up with a, no matter what kind of music you listen to, I don't care, listen to whatever you want. I even think some of the tracks in this video were alright. The thing that confuses me is just how mislabeled music is nowadays though and why are people suddenly calling their own style of music a new sub genre of a sub genre??? Nothing of this shade is aimed at you, this is just a side effect of the stupid marketing strategies producers use nowadays. The word Riddim is popping, most people have no idea what the word means or why it is used for the style that is Riddim Dubstep. They don't know what connection the word has to Dubstep, all they do with it is use it for their music to get some more plays. It irritates me because no matter where I go, I can't seem to stop seeing this happening. It just makes no sense how a Brostep producer all of a sudden can slightly tone done the variation of bass sounds in their track and call it something else.
@demonicsounds28434 жыл бұрын
Wow dude. Now I don't think I fucking know about Riddim. Man, how can I contact you? Unfortunately, I do not use English-speaking social networks like Twitter or Reddit. Your information is very useful, especially for me. As you might guess, I'm not from an English-speaking country. Here Riddim is very unpopular and it is very difficult to find at least some information about him even in English, let alone my native language.
@elliotberg45724 жыл бұрын
@@demonicsounds2843 It's crazy. The thing is it's hard for anyone to get the right information out when the larger group (brostep producers) are being misleading. The riddim community is tiny, you'll see like originators of the sub genre and they have like 25k followers on soundcloud. I completely understand why you've misunderstood exactly what it is when every other comment on brostep tunes are "I LOVE RIDDIM ❤". I live in Sweden I started listening to dubstep almost 9 years ago and I started off listening to brostep, just lots of skrillex, getter, virtual riot, barely alive and those guys. They were the people who were super popular, that was pretty much the only way I could find it. When I got into DJing about 4 years ago I found out about riddim and started talking to small producers and when I started seeing people misrepresenting what it is, I got angry because I know both sides. The thing is that they're not only spreading misinformation, it's a particular tiny community that won't be able to stop them like "nonono, that's not what we're about". Our community doesn't have that voice, we are the minority. I'm fully down to talk more to you in private, if you have discord that would be great.

You can't just say that. first: The selection of songs in this video are absolutely wrong, there are things that are supposed to be elsewhere. Real examples: Melodic Riddim: Ace Aura - Kaleidoscope, Gentemens Club - You Do Like That Future Riddim: Papa Khan - Glitched, Ravachol - Rainbow Tears, Oolacile - Future Riddim Girl. second: yes, Riddim Dubstep is a sub genre of Brostep that takes infulences from UK Dubstep (Original) that emerged when BROSTEP was in DEVELOPMENT. And today, Brostep has evolved, along with Riddim Dubstep, so Modern Riddim Dubstep can be a thing, being more Brostep sound design than UK Dubstep. (Crash & Burn mentioned is not Modern Riddim) Third: If u wanto say something, is necessary to talk about why it exists or not more Technically. Its not just saying that it does not exist on its own just claiming that it does not look like the conventional Riddim of the beginning. Fourth thing: Melodic Riddim, Future Riddim are real things. the result of merging genres (FUSION GENRE). its not just what the Brostep producers do with their tracks as you say. Melodic Riddim Dubstep is Melodic Dubstep with Riddim. Future Riddim is Future Bass with Riddim. Both use a production Technique called Color Bass named by Chime, which is not a subgenre or a thing, as many think. Melodic Dubstep can also use Colour Bass teknik. So some of Melodic Riddim songs that ppl call is just Melodic Dubstep with it. Fifth: Electronic music has evolved, is evolving and will always be evolved. if you're some underground guy who doesn't accept it without more echnical explanation. its not our problem. But, it is good to emphasize that, there are several terms that come up like Animestep, Vomitstep that are not really a genre. only Nrostep with animes amples or Snails sound design.
