Love your eye look in this video. Can you do a tutorial or let me know what shades/brands you used. I’ve tried a similar look but I don’t think I’m getting the right shade. I do love the look but am always afraid to do a pinkish look because I’m worried it will make me look tired or sick. The color you are using is beautiful & not as red. Thanks so much!

I use Clinique since I live in Tropics and heat melts my face I worked so hard for. This mattifing primer put a halt to my foundation running down my face!

Great video, Mandy!! I really like the Smashbox Photo Finish (its the white one). I’m 55 and have always had clear skin (except for when I went through menopause - my forehead went nuts!) but I’m very conscious of the larger pores on my nose and beside my nose. I need to use up the variety of primers I’ve collected, and then I’m really looking forward to trying the ColorScience brightening one. Thanks for the recommendations!

Great video and love this series! I discovered the ColorScience primers through you and the Brightening is my top primer. For a moisturizing primer that isn't a pore filler I like Marc Jacobs Coconut primer. My skin loves this stuff. Thank you for doing this series!

I have the colorscience mattifying perfector and your description of it is spot on! Blur and evens out skin tone like no other, actually prolong the wear of my base, and has SPF20 to boot. Unfortunately, my skin does not agree with it and I breakout in angry whiteheads. 😭

Right now I'm using the smashbox photofinisher primerizer all over and then the original primer on my T zone. But now I'm tempted to go try the oil! Doing my own makeup for a lot of weddings coming up (including my own rehearsal dinner). Is there one in particular you would recommend for those occasions? I've tried hourglass before and I find it doesn't sink into my skin well.

If you are wanting something to help prolong and smooth, I would definitely try out the Colorescience ones. :)

Okay, now I want to try Glossier and the Smashbox primer oil - especially since my skin gets really dry as we get into colder weather. I'm trying to avoid dimethicone but it seems to be more difficult than talc...

I have been wearing double wear light lately because nothing ever stays in my face more that a few hours and I have been using the Dr. Brants pores no more illuminating primer and it seems to working well. Do you think the DHC velvet would work good with that foundation? I have the color science bronzing and all calm but they seem to make my slightly oily skin dry and cakey under foundations. 😢 maybe I’m using too much. Will have to try again 😁

Hey Marianne! It does work under the Ilia, but I like something with more slip for under the Kjaer Weis...something like an oil or illuminating cream works best under the KW one. :)

Have you ever tried the MAC Prep + Prime Natural Radiance? What are your thoughts on that compared to these. I've been digging around for a primer that'll work with their skin and body foundation. I know you have a video on here mentioning that bc of its formulation priming could be difficult. If you could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it!

I have tried it but it's been awhile since I have. I remember it being ok, but not loving it enough to buy a full size. I personally like to go primer free with the face and body...I feel like it works the best that way. :)

How to you prep your skin for make up? You mentioned it a few times. If the Primer is 'moisturizing,' do you really need a moisturizer under make-up? I find too many products under my make -up feels 'heavy.' And I get shiny.

Hey Terri...I personally feel like if you are going to choose one or the other, I would go with a moisturizer and skip the primer. Having the skincare benefits in the moisturizer will do better for you than just using a primer that happens to have moisture. And I choose my primers depending on what foundation I am wearing that day....so if I am wearing a more matte foundation but want a luminous look, I will pick a highlight like primer and vice versa. Hope this helps!

The Guerlain meteorites primer is my very favorite, second is mineral veil. I also really like the Tarte smoothing primer in the pot for pores... Too Faced used to make my very favorite but discontinued it last year it was the primed and poreless oil free (white tube) the closest to that formula is the Tarte matte and poreless which is fine but not my favorite

I typically will use the Laura Mercier powder on top. And I find if you use just the right amount and no more, it's easier to stay matte. It is a very dewy foundation though so I only use it on my normal to dry clients. :)

Great video! Can you please explain to me why primer tends to flake off when I apply my foundation? I start buffing it into my skin and it crumbles off, primerly the smash box photo finish primer.

Hey there....it can be that you are using a bit too much or it can be your skincare that is causing it to do that. I would try and wait 15 minutes or more if you are able after your skincare to start your makeup. If it's still doing it I would try and use a bit less primer and see if that helps. :)

I think the CT will look great with the Lancome! The too faced is a very hydrating primer, but it doesn't have any luminosity added so it will really work with anything. :)

This is a great category! You know my love for the Colorescience bronzing primer. I have tried the Jane Iredale in a sample - lovely. I am definitely going to get the CT flawless filter to wear this summer. Do you find shade 3 is ok for you? I was thinking of getting shade 4, but I can usually wear similar shades to you or I mostly go for medium neutral. I still can’t work out whether to get shade 5 or 6 in the new CT concealer. I have always wanted to try the Dr Brandt primer, so it’s on my list. And I must take another look at the Just Peachy palette because your eyeshadow looks great. I’m currently wearing a cardigan that would match perfectly. 💕

I think shade 3 is great for me; it is a little on the peachy side, and I have tried a sample of 4 which is more neutral. So, if you are wanting it for the summer, I would probably go with 4. :) I have seen people use 8 in the concealer and it still looks like it would work for me, so I don't know about the concealer. They seem to be a bit confusing with the shades for sure. The just peachy palette is one of my all time faves!

I am so happy to hear you rave about DHC Velvet Skin Coat primer. I've being buying their skin care products for almost 10 years and I love them. I buy the products direct from the DHC website at www.DHCCare.com. Until you mentioned the Derm Store I didn't know DHC sold them anywhere but their own website. The sales they have are awesome and if you haven't tried their cleansing oil you absolutely must called Deep Cleansing Oil. Prior to DHC I used only Dermalogica skin care (for 30 years) and DHC is every bit as good and far less expensive. It's the best skin care in my opinion and I've tried them all - keep coming back to DHC and occasionally now Dermalogica when I can afford it. I hope you try other DHC skin care because I think you'll love it. Like you, I have normal skin - not dry or oily. Thanks as always for your hard work and gorgeous face gracing the computer screen on KZbin. Love ALL your videos.
