Thanks for this! I am currently on going interviews. What you said really helped me look into my self and what I want as an SDR. Sometimes I feel some hesitations because I honestly don't know what I'm doing. I have to learn ALOT. I'm looking forward to hearing more from you!

I would argue the 2 things needed and say that public speaking is a skill that a lot of people need to master while growing in their sales career

Hey Kyle, yes public speaking is an important skill for sale. I think the learning "how to sell" encapsulates all the aspects of public speaking and speaking 1 on 1 over the phone. Thanks for your comment. Best of luck!

I agree totally 100% with everything you said here! Those 2 things are definitely what it takes to earn income! I wish there was more training out there. I recently took a position that sounded great on paper, but they offered NO training at all. They told me to use my previous skills which were totally irrelevant to what they were doing! They threw me to the wolves to see if I could swim, and I couldn't! I failed at that, and plus they only gave me like less than 2 weeks to get it together. Companies should invest more time into training good people instead of just throwing people to the wolves with no training and losing what might be good reps!

Thanks for sharing that Brian. Yeah, employees would definitely benefit from company training. Fortunately I did received some training, but frequent practice was what made me better. Best of luck!

These days people have access to more information than they can read, they can do their own research and speak to friends or thought leaders/influencers. How has the role of the salesperson changed and how would you advise we remain relevant?
