In this video I take you through the Top 5 things to do in Chania, Crete!

First we begin by exploring Chania’s old Town Centre.
Chania, Crete:
The Venetian port is one of the first things you see as you enter the old town. It’s located within the Venetian quarter, obviously, and it is a marvelous sight to see!
We started by going to the lighthouse, which is a bit of a walk. You can go on the ground, or you can go on the wall, it has a small part. But it is very narrow, so you’ll have to do various tricks and maneuvers to get by, as people are coming in the opposite direction.
It’s worth doing the steps until the lighthouse, especially because you get an amazing view of the port and all of its restaurants, it’s beautiful both during the day and the night.
When we sat down for what was the best coffee I’ve ever had in my life. The foam was absolutely unbelievable! The Greeks do not play with their coffee.
The place was quite pricey, a bit of a tourist trap, but it was very pleasant. Joana had a strawberry smoothie and a strawberry slushy, and they gave us complementary chimney cakes with chocolate, which were very good. overall, it was a very good Cretan experience! I could not recommend that coffee anymore. It’s life-changing.
After the refreshments in the old port, we went into the old town, through the narrow streets. We started with the Venetian quarter, and explored all of its nooks and crannies, all of its amazing shops and sites. It is gorgeous!
We wanted to bring 10 suitcases full of souvenirs but unfortunately we had no budget and no space for such extravagances.
We slowly transitioned into the Jewish quarter, which was quite distinct from the Venetian quarter. The alleyways were significantly wider, and the architecture a bit different as well. Very interesting! It was very lively, with lots of beautiful restaurants, both Greek and international, and you just felt a very nice energy all around.
We ended up not eating at any of the restaurants because we had eaten a short while ago, which was a shame. Next time we visit, we will make sure to eat a lot of Greek food in the center of Chania!!
After exploring the Jewish quarter, we moved onto the Turkish quarter as we made our way back to the car.
It was the least interesting quarter of the old town, but it was nice to see it nonetheless.
We ended up not actually going into any shops or cafés because we were making our way towards the beach.
So that was our final stop in Crete before we had to head to the airport and fly to Santorini.
We went to Marathi Beach!
It was an amazing surprise. Full of locals, quite small compared to other beaches in Crete, but absolutely charming.
It has a very nice restaurant overlooking the sea, where we didn’t eat, unfortunately. But it is a must do the next time we go!
It was a bit of a stormy day in Crete, but we were able to enjoy the beach nonetheless. We had a nice three hours that by then, enjoying the sun and just appreciating the lost vibes of Crete.
The water was quite warm, as it is in all of Greece, and very transparent, even though you couldn’t fully appreciate it because of the clouds.
Sadly, we then departed to Santorini. We were very excited to go, but we didn’t want to leave Crete either!

I believe so! Best way to get around in crete is by car, as the island is very large. But amazing!!

I would rent one close to the airport, there are several companies who rent! Honestly right inside the town, I am not sure if there are any rental services
