A comfortable but compact chair for the air shows. I got one that is small enough to fit in a daypack, but is still comfortable for the several hours you’ll spend watching the daily shows.

Money - I usually bring $200 cash in small bills for stuff like brats, ice cream, fly market stuff, etc. And, of course, the credit card for everything else.

Thanks for your great tips! I have been at AirVenture since 2013, all week but stay in the Hotel with my special needs daughters. I had no idea the showers were separate and enclosed. Hotels have gone up to $500 a nite and we may have to try camping. I have lists but yours are better, i had to get my note pad out and make updates! Thanks so much for taking the time to help everyone! My girls and i are feeling ill and will try Covid tests today, it is possible we will miss AirVenture this year. Lucky we don’t have a $5000 hotel bill that is non refundable to worry about!

Hi Christine - I just found your channel! yayy! I am planning a cross country (KRNT to KOSH) (or bust) - taking it easy and not pushing (hard to push it in a C-172! ) I am also assuming that the sky will be blue and all pretty and CAVU - I am watching the weather closely. I was going to try to go last year but it didn't work out. I AM also planning to do a Carbon Cub build in my garage (no hubby - just me) - Actually I thought I was slightly crazy - but I see that I am not (or we are both crazy!) The Carbon Cub seemed like something I can do. Hope to see you there over the FISK intersection? Rock your wings!! :-)

5 years going to Oshkosh. 5 years leaving camp thinking "gosh it's so nice out - I'm going to wear shorts"... 5 years freezing my butt off by the time the fireworks start... I'm going to try doing something differently this year... maybe....

Here in WI we have a saying about the weather - "bring a winter coat and shorts - you'll need both." :)

If you have hearing sensitivity, bring hearing protection. I hear ear buds do a great job for that. Using earmuffs for the range are bulky and got in the way.

Which days are the best to go?
@PlaneLady Жыл бұрын
It depends - the night shows are on Wednesday and Saturday and I'd highly recommend going to at least one of those. The final weekend tends to be busier. If you're going to meet with vendors you might want to go earlier in the week. WomenVenture is on Wednesday. I'd look at the AirVenture schedule online to see if there are any panels, talks or workshops you really want to attend - some of them are only offered once during the week like my Women Building Aviation panel. There's also different movies each night at the Fly-In Theater and different evening speakers at Theater in the Woods. If there's a certain performer you want to see that should also be on the schedule and you can check their social media to see if they're doing any meet & greets. Remember that weather could impact the schedule/airshow.
