100% correct: when he hit his peak tennis (2004-2009, again for 3/4s of 2017, and in sporadic bursts in between) he achieved a level only he was capable of reaching. The utter domination during his 230 straight weeks at No 1 is some proof of that. He was faster, more powerful and more daring during the 2004-2009 period, but I think he actually played his best all-round tennis in 2017.
@Saskobest10 ай бұрын
While i also think Fed has had the highest peak, his "god mode" lasts beating Novak and Rafa in best of 3 matches and leading 2-0 in sets or 1-1 with a break in the third , but then he suddenly drops, on the other hand Novak and Rafa can play at their peak for ~4 hours(Novak is famous for starting kinda slow in the first set). Also comparing 2006 Fed to 2015 Fed for example, sure younger Fed is faster and has more consistent and lethal Forehand but his backhand is much worse(He used to slice ~60+ % of his backhand shots which ofc wouldnt work against Novak & Rafa especially on slower courts), had lower first serve percentage(he added the slice serve during Annacone years which upped his first serve percentage by 3-5%) and had less variety(started using dropshots more often 2009 and after)

There has never been and there will never be another who plays tennis with this level of brilliance and genius. I think the GOAT debate is meaningless, but for sheer joy in watching something that is this beautiful, this astonishing, Federer is in a class of his own. And I agree with HeisenbergR’s thoughtful comment below. The beauty includes his comportment during and after matches (with v rare exceptions). Went to Indian Wells and saw Federer many times. I stayed after every match, all of which included at a minimum quite a number of moments of this caliber of play, but I stayed to see him sign anything and everything that any child who came down to the courtside asked him to sign. Adults, too, but the emphasis by far was on kids. Very few others saw this, so if it was for PR (other than in a very literal sense of “relations”), it’s hard to see how. Just another special aspect of his greatness.

You'll see that when Federer won, he was more patient in the rallies, but once he identifies that he hurt his opponent, he goes right in at the net for the kill. Imagine being Djoko or Nadal and damn well knowing that when they give an inch, they will have to deal with Federer at the net after giving him an easy ball. The point might as well be over.

That's exactly it. There were even matches with sets where the scoreline was 7-5 or 7-6, but you could just feel he was in utter control, using the match as a training session to work on his game.

Aint no player living or dead is as good as Roger 100% after watching this video nah there can't be. Roger commands the Tennis ball like his racket and the ball are like 5&6 that was when Murray was in his prime and Novak even Spaniard mistro. He beat all of them to stupor. The greatest there was, the greatest there is and the greatest there will ever be a day until after forever

As i always said to anybody... Just because Nole has more grand slams, doesn't mean he his the greatest... A prime Federer is unbeatable, the best complete tennis player of all time... In fact, i think the order is Federer (number 1), Nadal (number 2), Djokovic (number 3)...

The way Roger controls his forehand thing make us all feel that he's a baseball shooter, a balanced player with a complete talent, he masters all shot tecniques, with no weak points, in the end he was defeated by only one player:"age". Yes djoko you re the most trophy winner, but not l the best player in history

5:10 , Fed's footwork before hitting the winner, measuring his approach with the mini-steps and only at the end a big step at full speed to have max momentum for the stroke, everything at a speed of feet that I've only seen in Messi.

I particularly decided to play this video for the wristband in the thumbnail. Because I didn't recall when he wore that outfit. Miss watching my king play tennis 😢 but love him foreverer ❤

Haha thanks for watching, it’s a nice outfit, I don’t remember where he wore it though, I think it was US Open 2015
