Dropping your resolution down on your PS5 to 1080p will help as well as putting your PS5 in performance mode.. For the advanced users putting your PlayStation with a static IP address and port forwarding also helps for a lot of people....

I know the ps portal resolution is 1080p but is there really an improvement by dropping the resolution on the ps5?

I had input delay and stuttering issues. Tried everything possible with my existing BT Smarthub2 router and it was still unplayable. Replaced my router, allocated the PS5 a static IP address, forwarded relevant ports and set up beamforming to the PS5 and Portal... Now it runs smooth as butter 👍🏻

They should’ve had wifi 6 on this device, it seems like a huge mistake to go with wifi5.

The HDMI tip that a lot of people are giving is because even if your remote playing the PS5 will still be trying to send audio and video through the HDMI..

So the advice is what?
@azarfe11Life258 ай бұрын
@@old_dan My bad I didn't make that clear but it's basically unplug your HDMI when you're doing remote play from out of your house and even inside of your house it will help latency for some people it helps more than others for me I'm in Alaska I average around a $500 download speed and 80 upload speed I was on vacation in Florida and had no issues when visiting my parents their internet speed was 800 download and 500 upload

HDMI trick is a farce. It does literally nothing. Snake oil. @@azarfe11Life25

I have a high-end Asus gaming router, so definitely trying these tips when I eventually get a Portal. Either that or waiting for the "official" OLED model that launches with PS Premium Streaming support and connects directly to the PS5 Pro after Sony has sold enough of this glorified prototype 🤞😜

You don't need to wait for a OLED model that wont come out. The screen on the Portal is amazing. I just got mine today and I'm honestly surprised how good it looks.
@vicentesalasii14808 ай бұрын
@old_dan I'm mostly being facetious, obviously. But I still stand by my theory that because Sony had some extra disposable income to burn from how well they've been selling these last couple years, they released the Portal as a form of "live market testing". Based on how well it does, it could potentially determine whether they release an enhanced model down the road and since OLED is becoming more widespread, it could go that direction.
@old_dan8 ай бұрын
@@vicentesalasii1480 Yeah, but I honestly don't think this device needs an OLED. People get too hung up on things that barely make a difference. If they're going to release an updated model, it needs a stronger wifi connection and maybe better battery life. The current screen it's actually really good.
@vicentesalasii14808 ай бұрын
@@old_dan While I do agree that improved wifi connectivity and better battery life are paramount, I also think a return to direct connectivity akin to how the Vita could connect directly to PS4 would be a welcome addition. In fact, I know I wasn't alone in thinking that would have been no-brainer feature here, especially since that new PS Direct feature connects proprietary earphone products directly to the Portal. I wouldn't necessarily call an upgrade to an OLED screen "barely" noticeable, however. Despite the caveats of potential burn-in and the like, there is still a substantial difference in vividness, vibrance and how much a picture pops on OLED. Even on the smaller screen size. Particularly, when it comes to gaming. Sure, we live in an era where practically everyone having access to AMOLED screens on their smartphones minimizes the allure, somewhat, but that too would be a welcome addition despite how good the Portal screen already looks. Take for instance, how much better the Steam Deck and Switch OLED displays look than the previous models.

OLED all day. But, an 8" OLED screen at 1080p on a portable gaming device? That's a little while off, and much more expensive. Especially if you want good battery life/affordability. Just got the Portal today and I've got to say even though I usually stay away from anything but OLED, it looks amazing, especially for the price. Knowing Sony, I'm hopeful they'll update this thing to push over 60Hz (🤞). That's the only thing I'm a bit iffy about, but otherwise 60 is fine for now.

Your experience is amazing because you have a wireless router that cost 400$+ , on my stock router i have 400-500gbps downoad and between 30-100 gbps upload and my experience with this device is crap, it works fine near router , if i move in other room , barely can play something without loosing connection, in the same spot my phone have better signal and the downloads speed are good... but the portal is more weak captching that signal, i think they made something wrong with this device
@gh0st26025 ай бұрын
Your download and upload speeds aren't the problem, it's the router. I had the same thing, changed the router and now it's spot on

@@DNT88_ I'm in the UK so not sure if options would be the same but I bought a TP Link AX3000. Have played on the Portal a few times in different areas of the house and it's been absolutely perfect so definitely worth the upgrade!
