@@Neb-uj4xt it is pretty damn hard on hard and up difficulty especially when you don't structure his army perfectly to take advantage of his traits and the special buildings in his starting province. When i was just starting out i played it on normal, made the army your usual elf one (the special dragons, a few sprears and arrows) and i had secured the 3 basic starter provinces for him. Problem is i could only afford that one army, and while i could win any one fight, at that point grimgor declared war and just swarmed armies in my direction, and i was stuck in a stalemate position right to turn 200 and was still in the same place.

Hard to make a guide because there is a lot of variance. I've played through it quite a few times and sometimes it's hard but manageable, and other times you're at war with 5 or 6 different factions by turn 10, all focusing only on you and sending waves after waves from every single direction to ass rape you.

I can attest to Dragon boi having one of the hardest starts I've had the displeasure of dealing with. The vermin bullied me for the first 40 turns until I was barely able to eek out enough gold to form a stack and a half and win a pyrrhic victory only to be so far behind in tech and economy I wasn't able to expand and secure before the dwarves and orcs began to federate and come down on me like a jealous ex finding out I hid a second bank account from her. Luckily for me after beating me senseless for another twenty turns leaving me with just two territories left (both max walled) they rediscovered their hatred for eachother and let me recover enough only to get shit on by the flourishing dark elves to my south. But fate stepped in again for me as the last defenders took pity on my abused ass and declared war on them leaving me to lick my wounds and brood for another dozen or so turns before I was strong enough to pincer the elves with lizard men and took back the rest of my province from the dwarves and eventually SLAUGHTERED EVERY LESSER FOOL WHO THOUGHT THEY COULD STAND IN THE PRESENCE OF THE DRAGON PRINCE! 10/10 would dragon boi again. Oh, it goes without saying that the lizard men were one of the few races granted leave to dwell in the great Empire of Caledor. They along with the Eataine high elves remained my allies for the entire duration of the campaign. Never could federate with Eataine though no matter how much influence/court intrigue I spent on them.

It used to be Belegar for me as the hardest, but at some point a dude on reddit made a guide for Thorin Oakenshield rush, taking K8P in just 14 turns. It works to this day for about 80-90% of runs. The problem is more that once you take it The greenskins will come at you so hard that you will have to fight for every inch of progess and clan eshin/mors will start to get "interested" in your settlements.

Arkhan can secure his province easily in the first few turns. You have to reach the border of his current region and start to recruit local and global. Build and hire archers. Then, after several turns you will have 17-18 units. Send your hero ahead and move your army horizontally on the right and set an ambush. They will move their army and almost always in force march. Kill them all. You will need 2 bats for trebuchet, wolf's and ghouls for cavalry while your skeletons tank their infantry. Not a great victory, but not a very intense either.Wait one turn to replenish and recrute and then rush forward. They are pretty much done. Then you have enough time to march back, deal with a revolt and rebuild your army. Relatively easy. Legendary difficulty.

Basically if you only take the 2 dwarf settlements closest to you as fast as your movement will allow, peace out with them, recruit more archers, and force march to clan eshins capitol, you can take it undefended while they still fight greenskins. Super ez.

Morathi was the bane of my existence. Always 3 to 4 full enemy armies in my starting province. I had just finished conquering the first region that the whole high elves was at war with me, same with exotl. Was the worst experience I had in this game. Couldn't do anything.

with Morathi I usually sack a few settlements and make peace with s'sildra tor then I use them as buffer against tiranoc, alith and lizards. I keep them around and kill enemy armies and revolts leveling up and upgrading quintex and when I have enough money to recruit 2nd army I go out and start taking territory for myself

I was in the process of wiping out Eshin with Imrik, when they suddenly confederated on like turn 16 with queek and were basically everywhere around me. Thank god that also meant that Malus was basically afk until turn 60, but now im still just fighting off 4-6 queek stacks every 4-5 turns and csnt really expand.

I'm proud of myself having progressed beyond that for Imrik's campaign albeit with some mods to make it a bit easier, but that start of Imrik was really the hardest out of all my playthroughs. I had to deal with the Skaven, then Grimgor which had Grom already and Hag Graef, almost had to deal with the Spirit of the Jungle as well. Also the hardest battle for Imrik's dragons I faced was the first one for the red dragon, that battle was just insane. But once you get one of the legendary dragons, things get a lot easier.

For me the most difficult campaigne was the last defenders, i was kinda slow at start and allowed the dwarfs to grow very much, helped them against the green skeen. Plus i didnt finished off clan eshin witch was a big mistake. Intially i found my self at war with a very strong coalition, and even 4 doom stacks were not enough to progress even i had all the south, so i recruited 2 crap stackes and one more doom stack to rom the north and razed every dwarf city i could. That did helped, but it took me 150 turs to turn things around. That was relly a nightmare.

Khalida would have to be on my list. She is surrounded by Vampires, Skaven, High Elves, Dark Elves, Lizardmen, Greenskins, and Dwarves; none of whom like her. I often find that I am at war with at least 2-3 of these groups before turn 20, just due to them thinking that I am unworthy of my blessed unlife.

I think it's the problem of all Tomb kings. Nobody likes them (they're kinda neutral), they have shit early game units, shit economy and not enough AI cheats like Skavens, Bretonnia, Vampires or Greenskins.

Khalida is breeze with her ammunition bonus. You can literally sit in your initial settlement and farm rebelliions till the AI gets the main settlement of the province to tier4 then take it off from them.

Yeah, Imrik keeps you busy for a while at the beginning. Quite a fun campaign as it postpones the steamrolling. I played it with the OvN Lost Faction mod, so I had chaos dwarves and chaos corruption in my first province too. That was brutal but a lot of fun. Definitely recommend! Had more fun with him than with Eltharion, despite being a pretty big fan of gryphon-man.

Man I agree so much with Morathi. I started my first very hard Morathi campaign last night and before turn 50 I got dragged into 5 wars, had to end up invading Ulthuan with a single army after fighting Alith Anar and running around like a headless chicken quelling rebellions, and ultimately had to bribe my son to come help out before I got completely fucked lmao. At the very least I managed to get Alarielle and Ellyrion to fuck off for a while by bribing them with a trade agreement to peace out while I try to get my shit together, though so that's a thing.

What about Lokhir Fellheart? He starts off in Lustria dealing with Teclis who will turn on you by turn 20, Luthor Harkon who will either corrupt your land or tie up all your armies and Gor-rok and Tehenuin who if you dont deal with quickly, will form an alliance and try to take you out, along with the Dwarves in the mountains and with Lord Skrolk as your only potential ally on the continent, you will either have to deal with constant corruption since his capital is in your starting province, or be left to fend for yourself against all of Lustria, and boy does it just get so much more fun when the Puppets of Chaos turn up between turns 80-120 always when you least expect them and bum rush your most bouilt up cities with their full armies. But wait, the missions suggest you go take Karond Kar so why not use the Black ark to go up their ant take it? Because sastarting out its the best way to recruit your troops and quickest way to gain access to things like Shades and Black Dragons, but then you either have to fund an army that will take 10-20 turns to get from one end of the map to the other or gamble and hope Skeggi or the High Elves dont have an army near by to the path you chose, because moving that black ark up their means all the strongest factions that hate you will be at war with you, meaning you will have to deal with constant excursions from Chrace in Karond Kar as well as the Servants of Chaos when they turn up. And good luck trying to Confederate other Dark Elves as Hellebron and Malekith will be at war but not fighting so wanting you to break it so you best funnel them loads of gifts, and Morathi is usually in the middle of Ulthuan getting her ass kicked so confederating her will result in war with Lothern and public order issues due to corruption. The only other viable tactic i have found is bum rushing Sartosa, and then wiping out Tilea, Estalia and the Border Princes, just to have a segment of the map where you arent constantly having issues, but recently i have seen Orion, Belagar and the Empire start to march armies down to try kick me out. TL;DR: Fellheart has no friends, no safe home and no security

Personally I would nominate Vlad or Isabella. Their faction is not bad, but youre basically competing with Manfred for territory, and he can just expand faster than you can, which makes him difficult to confederate if that's your thing, or you have to fight him which can be difficult but regardless he has the more valuable territory. And because you're expanding westward into Imperial territories, you need to spend time building up corruption.

I still have severe PDST about my first ever Imrik campaign right after it was released. I played on hard difficulty. Went to take out the dwarves you start at war with. By turn 3 or 4 when I was about to take the last dwarves settlement, the greenskins to the east declared war and started raiding me. A turn later both Malus and Eshin declared war. On turn 10, Grimgor, with his newly buffed greenskins, who already confederated and was by far the strongest faction in the game, declared war one me. Grimgor was not at war with anyone else. He ignored the dwarves and started coming at me with 2 armies again and again and again. At the same time Eshin and Malus were sending stacks from the south and east, and the fucking greenskins in the east also sent multiple stacks of gobbos to raid and believe my settlements. I was being gang banged like never before. I couldn't believe I was playing on just hard difficulty. Oh and all the other dwarves hated me as well for taking out the dwarves you start at war with so no one wanted to help.

Yeah having just failed my Imrik campaign that explains a lot. I fucked around with clan eshin duking me by using the underway for like 20 turns longer than it should've taken. Hag graef wasn't a problem but by the time I'd finished but grimgor was. He literally confederated/invaded every single land around me so I literally couldn't expand and couldn't get any trade routes to the elves (he was like 5x stronger than me). I bided my time until I went "fuck it, surely he's too busy fighting other wars," and stole a gold mine of his. Next thing I know, 4 full-stack greenskin armies show up in my territory and imrik is 5 turns away from them. I manage to fight the greenskins back but guess what, 6 more armies showed up, most of whom had at least one arachnarok spider. My two largest settlements fell and I haven't touched the campaign since.

It's not like Tretch Craventail can help Rictus Clan-nest, he's too busy getting screwed over by Dark Elves in the north. Also, Clan Rictus should qualify as well, because not only is their starting position a bit vexing, their faction benefits are also terrible and in need of a rework. Give me hordes of competent Stormvermin backed up by the Skaven's friendly fire and backstabbing! Clan Mors are just the Untainted, general army rats in my book. Rictus has the hordes upon hordes of Stormvermin to menace any foe (from below?).

Imrik is easy if you rush clan eshin. Skip fighting the orcs. Declare war on them by besieging one of their cities. Even better if you can first attack one of their armies on the same turn. just be the one to declare war and eshin will be a piece of cake

Playing a Morathi campaign on VH and by turn 6 as I'm rolling up on Moon shard, there are 2 high elf armies from Tironac, who invite Alith Anar to join in. Seeing their buddies fighting me, a few turns later Hexoatl joins in, along with Avelorn, Ellyrion, Chrace, and Saphery. Lot of fun, but it seemed like I was killing full stacks every turn from an endless wave of multiple high elf armies. Turn 75 rolls around and I'm still standing, but the delay in progress meant I was just getting my territory built up to a reasonable degree to expand when the Chaos invasion begins. Seeing as the Old World has to actually stop the invasion, I had to endure wave after wave of Chaos (thanks for the free corruption though!), until Order finally did their thing. Problem is, that's when the Order tide gets rolling. So I've managed to capture most of the high elves area, but already the Brettonians are crossing the sea and it won't be long before a tide of cavalry and dwarves come my way. Her campaign is certainly busy and exciting, but it seems like each step you take is in slow motion, so everyone else gains 2 steps. Definitely not an easy start position.

Imrik is not hard. Key to Imrik is to NEVER RECRUIT ARCHERS OR SPEARS. You can get 13 Dragon Princes by Turn 15. That's the key. If they ambush you, it doesn't matter if your whole army is flyers and cav.

Inriks campaign is a shitter. the main issue I had was the ambush but also that rats and dwarfs burrow under stuff, while you have to run around, the swamp to the right is attrition and - movement, and if u capture the dwarfs north it takes 2-3 turns to go from one to the other while rats will just bury under and pop up next to a low settlement, add in no trade. no support, expensive army etc it was surprisingly unfun and a game of whack a mole for the most part.

I have the legendary guide. Attack and destroy first the dwars you are in war with, then attack and destroy clan Rictus, then go in march stance back home. Your settlement will be attacked by then, if you are good, you can make tier 1 walls, and can kill the fucking rats with your settlement troops, if you are not that good, they will take the settlement, but you are there the next turn and fuck them up. Then you need to be in ambush mode, and the fucking rats will jump in your territory, you can ez come out from ambush and fuck them up. Note that if you control alt delete, and reload the game, you can cheat by looking were the fuck are the rat generals on your territory. The rats usually have 4-5 generals, so be careful, don't rush it to hard. Don'y worry about -100 at clan Rictus castle, just recruit 1 hero in the castle and you will be fine to defend it. I actually just did a Gelt campaign and wouldn't have guessed it was on this list. I'm more surprised Skarsnik isn't in here somewhere, or Skrolk, or Khatep.

@Private Weaver I played as Gelt after the greenskins update but before the wood elves update and the campaign wasn't that hard at all. The only challenge was defeating vampire counts and after that it was easy. The Empire provides a huge buffer to the north so you virtually have one less border to worry about. I got rich quite fast, because I only had to keep armies in the south, while the north was an economic backbone.
