How deep is the chamber on the Vac-Vida vacuum sealer from lid to bottom?

Is the Vac-Vida maintenance free?

Nope. That vacuum sealer requires that you fill the pump with oil before using it for the first time. The unit comes with machine oil and instructions on how to do this. Once filled, the oil is good for 24 hours of combined use (this is a long time for a vacuum sealer) after which, you'll need to drain and replace the machine oil inside the fuel pump. You can tell when the machine oil needs replacing if it starts to turn dark or milky. Hope that was helpful. Thanks for the question and comment. Trick to telling a cheap vacuum machine from a good one. Any machine that takes corrugated bag is a cheap machine, when the bags are smooth that means its for a minimum $500 dollar vacuum machine.
