Everybody’s list will be a little bit different. I’ve similar sized hands and played 4 months at ADL with a modified desolator, I guess I was making it work before I got my FDL-3 from Jackie and Jesse. Love the post Luke!

10:18 That darn sharp edge on the DZP MK2 glad someone else pointed it out. near as I can see that edge is just cosmetic, there's no functional reason it couldn't have just been rounded off I hope Dart Zone considers doing a revision. (they have updated other blasters before)

It's a good thing Beret gave you that Amp for you to demonstrate with today :p I liked the honorable mention of the DZP MkII. While the whole blaster clearly has a lot more design than the vast majority of stuff in the hobby, it was a matter of refinement really; a good example about how much difference a millimetre or two can make in ergonomics.

I just want to say, thank you so much for making this video! I really hoped you would! When you said that you're pretty picky when it comes to ergonomics, all I could think of was Coop..😂😂 When you brought out the "honorable mentions" and I saw the DZP MK 2, I actually said "wha??" out loud. I also want to add that the grip on the Kolt is far from the best grip, but it's not the worst I've held. For smaller hands like mine, it usable, but my main issues with it is the deep ridge (that the catch sits in) that runs from the bottom of the grip to the underside of the trigger guard(which is present in the Bigshock, Nano fire, and some of the a Jolt "reskins"), and the lack of a beaver tail (for those who don't know, that's the curved part at the top back of the grip, where the webbing between you thumb and index finger sits in). Luckily, the ridge issue can be mostly solved (for the Bickshock, you can 3D print a cover for that ridge) by carefully covering it with some duct/Gorilla tape.

Good video! I'm glad to see I am not the only one who doesn't like Jolt grips much. On a related note, I never have been a fan of the Triad's grip either, I just never found it comfortable. While I have never used the Doomlands Desolator before, I understand where you're coming from with it. I have similar issues with the Tech Target Eliminator as well. I love the blaster and I do think it is comfortable for the most part, but the trigger I feel is placed too far back and I have a tendency to hold it the way you held the Desolator. If it was just moved forward some, I think it'd be fine. If we had to talk about pump grips though, the Air Tech 3000 is certainly one for me. The main grip itself is very comfortable, but the pump grip totally sucks simply because you can't really grip it much.

Honestly I don’t know why they forgot how good the original N-strike grips were. (Recon, A-Trooper, Stampede) Coop, an absolute giant, finds them comfortable, and me, a hobbit, find them comfortable.

Really surprised to see no Buzz Bee. They haven't made a blaster with a decent grip yet. My particular favorite is the Thermal Hunter which has a grip so small only a 4 year old can hold it, but needs someone much older to have the wingspan to prime the pump grip.......

Go and try Abraham's M16, the Exterminator, the Eradicator, the Champion, the Revolution, the Rebel Mech, and a few others. Lots of good grips, just have to try the range of blasters to find them.

The Sling strike is the worst I've used. It has the skeletal build of the alpha strike line but designed in such a way that it actually cuts in to your hand as you you use the blaster. Its quite impressive how they managed to do it..

This is the first time I can remember someone really talking too seriously about the ergo of the DZP Mk2. I kind of think that maybe they should have made the grip slightly bigger and had it hold 7 or 8 darts so they could do a better job with how it holds. Still want to get one.

On a personal note, upon painting my MK2 in a total of 3 layers of paint (blue, lavender, clear coat) the thickness of the layers now make the back side below the plunger tube more smooth and even squishy, eliminating my complaint of the sharper corners cutting into the tip of my thumb knuckle!

I had to pull out my own jolts when you brought yours up, and it really shows how much a difference hand size can make. For me the grip size is a little tight, (and the finger divots don't line up right) but I can actually fit my entire hand around the grip, while you quite clearly can't.

I personally really like the mk-2 grip. I’ve been using it in HvZ as a side arm since I got it and sometimes a primary because it is so fun.

Alpha Strike's 'ribbed for your displeasure' skeleton grips Rebelle has some pretty bad grips (usually because they're tiny) but the Star Shot is one of the most comfortable blasters I own. Micro Shots is full of awful grips (the Star Lord one might have the worst) but I guess they get a pass because they're essentially Nerf Funko Pops

Let me guess, your MK2 is missing the side panel because you're currently prototyping a 3d printed Slide Replacement? if that's the case, I hope yours addresses the screw posts on the plunger tube cracking from lack of support... a slide that internally closely cradles the PT instead of just pushing on those small posts would help relieve stress...

First, did Luke forget about Buzz Bee blasters? Second, I cut off a Maverick grip and put it behind my Desolator's grip. It puts my finger in the right place, but now it has the problem that the Hera grip does, just primarily in one direction. I'ma redo the grip by completely removing the old one, and making a new one far enough back to put the trigger in the right place, and move the rev trigger if I need to.

I don't know what the worst blaster grip is but my absolute favorite is actually the grip on the super soaker thunderstorm! Even though it sprays water instead of darts, it's still my favorite grip of all time

I don’t understand why Luke is being so generous to Buzz Bee blasters in this video hahah. Aside from owning a Desolator(but I’ve heard bad things about the grip), the rest are spot on. I like the Hera but that oversized grip made me store it away. Helios with a similar form factor has way better ergo, although I guess you have to account Hera having an extra rev trigger. Ultra grip is soo bad. Ultra blasters are front-heavy so a lot of stress would be on the fingers in front while gripping. Yet they put this jagged bump on the front of the grip. Elite 2.0, definitely NOT an upgrade over the Elite in any shape or form, especially grips. The MK II has an overrated grip. It’s cool they gave us extra weight with the metal. But the grip itself is just a blocky rectangle with no style. Given how great the MK I grip is, I thought the MK II should be at least as good. Side note: Hi Luke, I saw you had the priming [grip] off the MK II, it got me excited for if you’re gonna design a new priming [grip] for it. I don’t like how when you’re aiming, the back of the prime sticks out from the rest of the blaster, it just looks silly. The babies part was hilarious.

My real problem with the Hera grip is the giant bump in the beaver tail. It makes my hand sore even when I don't use it for that long.

I actually completely disagree with most of the blasters you put on this list, ngl. There are so many blasters that are *so much worse* Like, to name a few, alpha strike blasters, the rebelle messenger, or literally anything buzzbee. (Think... tek-6, or berserker) I just think the blasters you listed are minor complaints compared to those blasters, ngl

Weird to call rough ergonomics "function over form." Ergonomics is part of function. They are just stressing one function over another: Launching the dart over holding the blaster or pulling the trigger. Or in the case of the Jolt, the function of launching a dart in the smallest package possible; which really means it is a case of form (size) over function (holding blaster and squeezing the trigger).

I've got little baby hands and the Rival Knockout is by far the worst one I own. I actually mostly own X-Shot blasters with some buzzbees and a few Nerfs in there, all of which combined barely outnumber my 3D printed ones. But the Knockout just... by little hands can barely hold it. Which is excusable since it justifies the huge grip because of the plunger tube, but what isn't excusable is the trigger. It's the worst trigger I've ever used. Heavy trigger pull, with a sliver of plastic. There's a 3D printable trigger sleeve on Thingiverse which took me 8 minutes to print and completely reversed my opinion of the blaster. Once it had a good trigger, I could appreciate it.

I also have large hands, usually wear large or extra large gloves. I have used the desolator at many events included all of a 2 day event. I don't find it to be the best grip by any means, but I don't find it nearly as uncomfortable as many other grips. Have also not had quite the same issues with it, but that is likely due to hand shape.

The Ultra AMP... Ultra to me seems like Nerf's attempt to target the short dart crowd which is all adults, several years too late. Like come on, fall 2019 the same time as Dart Zone's Pro Mk 1. HALF DARTS already existed in the hobby it's what the big kids play with and when the big kids are playing with 90fps and up seemed super short sited to make a dart type that according to Drac's sources the testing team behind the Ultra Dart was trying hard to get it 120ft with very little luck. So to this day. I don't get it. Personally, I don't want any kid under 11 (12 would be ideal) to play with more than high 70's fps. And Ultra shoots as hard as Rival which was marketed towards an older crowd which real-world translates to high school and college-age because they have money. So why they would do what they are still doing is beyond me. Obviously, it's because of money. But for who? Dumb Parents who don't know what they're buying? Like Nerf does make more solid products, but... some of their marketing is just. Dumb. I've said it once, and I'll say it again. Currently, you can get Vortex, Elite, Mega, Demolisher Rockets, Rival, Hyper, and Ultra. Yes, you can still find some Vortex here and there on shelves like Walgreens and CVS and such. Why? What is the actual point? AND Many groups and outdoor areas are just refusing Hyper blasters because it's little rubber balls. It's as close to an actual jell ball blaster as you can get, PLUS a scavenger hunt. It's a terrible color that blends into grass, it gets too dirty to quick in dirt, animals will eat it, it'll get into water sources and supplies. It's just pollution. I know why tho. Because other people made clone ammo. Because Nerf refused to retire the elite dart and replace it with waffle darts. Ultra has been out for two whole years and they finally released a dart that MIGHT hit something. Can't wait for someone to make Ultra knock-offs with an actual waffle tip. No seriously, Nerf can't be making a ton a money on darts and such, you can never buy large quantities anymore. Finding magazines in stores is impossible hell stores don't really even stock a lot of ammo. Ok, I'm stopping I can go on waaaay too long

unrelated to the video but I'm making a nerf sniper rifle and was wondering if I should use a pump and air tank or a powerful motor in the stock that powers two belts in the barrel instead of flywheels so the round has time to accelerate to full speed.

My least favorite grip ever has to be the Buzz Bee Berserker. The grip is way too small, it curls weird at the bottom, and the length of pull with the trigger is microscopic
