Ruthless Richie and John Smith I definitely second that. I haven't been to prison or jail but I worked as a nurse in a state psych hospital. In no way or form am I comparing the two but I've seen patients mess up their discharge coz theyre so accustomed to being institutionalized. And some are homeless with mental illnesses such as schizophrenia and bipolar self medicating with illicit drugs (I'm not blaming or judging. Just shedding light) and end up overdosing. They're taken to the ER and brought to psych hospitals or jail. Once they're stabilized and put on the right medication and ready for discharge, they freak out coz they don't want to be out on the streets homeless.

I've done 6 months, 9 months, and a few 30 days in county jail but my dad has been in prison since 2001 and is doing a 40 year bid here in Florida and your videos have helped me know some of the things he goes through because he doesn't really talk about things in prison he always just wants to know about our family and talk about us... he was a US marine for 12 years or so. He never got in trouble and lived a stand up life and is a man with strong morals and very proud. If there is anyone that DOESN'T belong there its definitely my daddy. I hate that hes in there but he killed a man.... but your videos also help me not want to ever go to prison... I just want to raise my kids and live a honest life. Hopefully my dad sees this side of the fince before he dies. Hes in a good camp now he said. (Avon park)

I went to Marine Corps boot camp in 1999, and number 4 is just as true to service members as it is prisoners. Mail call is a godsend and anytime you got a piece of mail it made your day. Although most service members are only away from their families/loved ones for months or a year/year and a half overseas compared to prisoners serving years, it still weighs just as heavily on them as it does prisoners. Your mind always plays tricks on you thinking your significant other is cheating, especially when you haven't heard from them in a few days. I can absolutely relate to that scenario.

Unless something needed to happen. Prison was a whole new ball game. And most people don't gaf about you when you and your money are gone. It's real hard to get past the lack of control at first. The thing I'm most thankful for is that I was fortunate enough to be able to tell my mom how much she meant to me and will always mean to me, before she died. And I held her hand while she went. It was the worst day of my entire life and the hardest, most painful thing I've ever been thru, and I've been thru everything from being locked up to being homeless and sleeping in alleys, drug addiction, been beaten down and cut, even shot at. But *nothing* sucked as bad as watching mom die...BUT, I would go thru it all over again if I had to, because at least she died knowing how loved and appreciated she was and she was surrounded by the people she loved the most.

I just wanna say ty for something so simple. The fact of how important it is for your loved one getting a letter. My man has been in sense nov 2015. He’s in Quehanna boot camp now. We were going strong w/ the letters for a good while. My life became more n more chaotic. Movin’ place to place. I will be honest i also became lazy. Relying on phone calls. Then when we didn’t have that the kiosk. My life became more chaotic dealing w/ family issues. Relying on the kiosk sure hasn’t served its purpose of reassuring him of all the love that i truly have for him. It’s gotten to a point where it’s making more serious issues between us. Him trusting me is a huge one. I literally have no time for any other man in my life. I’ve at least been here and will always be riding for him no matter what. My life still isn’t as settled as it could be. My depression gets in the way of things and i shut down. I finally got to the point where i can actually calm my mind and have that peace in order to write him again. This message actually stuck in my head. It hit me and i thought back to when we were actually writing letters. I truly understand that importance of that remembering of all the 6-8 pg letters i use to write. Im truly hoping i can turn this around w/ this paper again. Bring it to where it once was. I watch alot of your videos hoping to better understand things from his prospective and it has helped so much. Ty for all the much needed important info 💯💯👍🏽

#5 is literally the worst on the list. Fighting, assaults, new charges.... everything else is nothing compared to being incarcerated and losing someone you love. In prison, you don't always have the ability to grieve, you aren't around your family, you don't have any alone time.... for a person going through that, seeing everything being "business as usual" and/or smiling or anything else except what you are feeling will make a person become bitter at the whole world. When you're in an environment full of negativity and you've had a serious loss and your heart is really hurting, sometimes making someone else feel pain is their only reprieve. A personal hardship can very easily become a very volatile situation, especially in a close-quarters environment.
