In this series we are exploring and continuing to countdown the 50 best scrolling platform games on the Atari ST that use guns as their primary weapon.
Even if a game contains no platforms other than the ground, we are still going to consider it for this list.

Some of these games might also contain other types of game play on levels and possibly some non-gun fighting but for the most part we have separated the Arcade platformers that use non gun weapons like Chuck Rock, and the style fantasy magic or non gun shooters like Beyond the ice palace and beat-em ups like Double Dragon s to their own individual series, and in this way we can cover many more games and explore the breadth of the ST’s large library.

Great video! I was expected that! The music in Zone Warrior is almost the same than Thunder Wing. I can’t believe than the big Barry Leitch copied that tune from 1989… (I mean, this guy composed Super Cars II chiptune, for god sake)

The ST version was probably an after thought, so they just either stole Barry's tune or asked him for one he has lying around. Decent playability though, I do like it, but it could have been a classic.

Zone Warrior is good, but it's an example of a crap port from the Amiga to the ST =)

@@IntoTheVerticalBlank I never saw that tbh as I thought it was ace. Unlike something like Wolfchild which I thought was a pathetic rushed conversion… like a lot back in the 90s sadly

By the way, I’ve always thought that 2 games from this video had curiously the same defect: the gun is too hughe compared to the character’s sprite (Baal and Zone Warrior) 😂

Really need to find a colour monitor for my ST (Have an Stf that I just recently got but it came with a monochrome monitor).

There are a lot of older monitors that will work with the ST2VGA ADAPTER as long as the monitor can do the CGA signal standstill of 15Khz

@@IntoTheVerticalBlank I have read about these cables, tried to make one but luck is not on my side as the 13 pin din connectors I got have just melted from the soldering (I did keep my iron at a low temperature that could still work but the dins must have been made really cheap).
