If you guys think some of these abbreviations are strange or aren't what you remember, just keep in mind that East/West and Europe realms had vastly different terms since these communities did not play together, so their own terms formed in their own player-bubble. I'm sure Asia realms had their own stuff too, but I've never even met someone whos played there. I've played on USEast since 2002, but having used jsp I know a ton of EU only terms. I'll list a few that I can think of without going in-game. Baba = Barbarian (EU only for the most part) Soso = Sorceress (East started using this kinda recently, but I've seen it on EU though) Pala = Paladin (I've seen it very rarely on East, but its basically only a EU thing) Harle = Shako = Harlequin Crest Shako (Harle is definitely EU only) Taxi = Rush = Getting carried through the game (EU used to use this term, but they pretty much phased it out) Ama = Zon = Amazon (Ama is pretty much EU only too) Eni = Enigma = Enigma Runeword (Eni is 100% EU only, East and west just call it Enigma or nigma) runeword armor that gives massive bonus and teleport skill, probably best item in the entire game) Sk = Skiller = Grand Charm with +1 skill to certain skill tabs (Sk is 100% EU only, East and West call them different things depending on what class theyre for. example: pcomb is paladin combat skill grand charm.) Skin = Graphic (basically for OCD people who want matching charms or a certain type of ring graphic or amulet graphic. Every one of them has different names on different realms. Even some have multiple names, depending on the realm. There are guides for item graphic names out there especially on jsp).' Gater = Bumper = Bump = Grush Bumper (a level 60+ character who was glitch rushed or classic rushed through the game who has not done their ancient quests in normal, nightmare or hell thus giving the leacher the quests when the bumper completes them). Zaka = HoZ = Herald of Zakarum (unique paladin shield thats considered best in slot for some builds. somewhat uncommon in hell, but very useful for many paladin builds in late game) FT = fast trade (in EU this ALWAYS stands for "fast trade". which is quite confusing because in East/West FT stands for "For trade" as in, this item is listed for trade. FT is usually used when someone wants to trade an item very quickly, often slightly overpaying for whatever so they can get it quickly.) I'll edit this post with more as I think about them!

A lot of these "common phrase" abbreviations apply to NA only. Nobody on the EU server ever uses Nigma, ISO, BIN, Script, WUG, WUW or 4 that means "for" in game names. Just to add to the stuff that others have already pointed out, on EU, you'll commonly see O=offering, N=need, read (or simply r)=read game description, iwub=I'll whisper you back, ama=amazon and soso=sorceress (rather than NA's zon and sorc), PC=+1 to paladin combat skills grand charm (rather than NA's Pcomb), red=ruby, yellow=topaz, etc. Man, there are surprisingly many differences!

There are actually some differences between US and Europe in that case. Examlpes I found in your video: Occy -> Ocu/Occu Os -> Sox (sockets) Pally -> Pala Sin -> Assa Zon -> Ama O = offer, ISO-> N = need, BIN -> FT = fast trade script -> read Rush 4 forge -> N taxi O HF Charsi food -> Akara food :>> I Think it's good to know both, becouse the game will be global. "UP" means a town portal is opened. It can be to let you know they have the latest portal. It can be useful information when you join a game with 6 portals opened already. Or it can also mean that they reached the zone your party was looking for and a portal is up. So you have to watch out for that or you'll miss the boss/quest if you don't go back and take their portal.

D2jsp will still be used for D2R, but don't let this deterr you! You are on your own journey, make your own fun! If you want to compete you should do this at a ladder reset. Which will be more frequent in D2R than it used to be in D2.

Epic video. A lot of stuff is shortened even more sometimes, e.g. "p torch", "s torch" for paladin torch, sorc torch, etc. although "p" also often means "perfect" so it's ambiguous if "p torch" is a pally torch or a perfect torch. Ethereal is occasionally shortened all the way to just "E". These sorts of super short versions are often used in the game names since game name has such a tiny max character limit. It's basically the Twitter of 2000. You could also use "s" and "ns" for safe/not safe portals. "nk" = "naked kill" (killing someone before they've picked up their corpse). "g" = "go" (ready to fight, usually both players say this before engaging in "gm" PvP).

If duping is fixed any 30+/15 will be valuable. Even if there’s a dupe method if it isn’t widespread they’ll still be super useful. Kinda like 3-15-15 charms are still great with 3-20-20 existing. Especially on ladder. Those things were always valuable in early ladder even with bots and dupes, because 40/15 is pretty damn rare

With the nigma - BP Nigma for breastplate and AP Nigma for archon plate. BP great for low str req (bone necro, starter hdin - eventually wanna get that ap) also upd/upped - mainly on the HOZ (herald of zakarum pally shield - upping is ladder only). Also want a perf hoz with 200ed (1 ko + 1 lem + 1 p diamond) you can up exceptional items to make it the elite version of the item. Herald Of Zak is a gilded shield (exceptional) and can be upped to a zakarum shield. Also SS or Mon/Monarch is a Storm Shield Monarch. There are a lot of item abbreviations in the game too: Rend/Rends - Steelrend Ogre Gauntlet gf - Grandfather Colossus blade Homun/Homo - Homunculus CoH - Chains of Honor wf/windy - Windforce bow Buriza - Unique Crossbow lid - lidless wall shield coa - crown of ages vamp - vampire gaze helm botd - breath of the dying ebotd - eth breath of the dying val/valor - arkaines valor balrog skin armor tals - tal rasha set item HW/highlords/lords/hilord - Highlords Wrath ammy wt/travs/wartravs - war traveler boots (MF boots) tucs/btucs/barts - bartucs talon (assn weapon) rbf - rainbow facet pcomb (pally combat skill grand charm) can have max 20 life 3/20/20 - 3 to max dmg/20 to life/20 to attack rating small charm There are a TON more, a lot of PVP gear with rbf in it especially when dealing with a foh pally, also skill abbreviations too. ALSO soundchaosdebug is the best thing to type in chat, during the resurrection beta it bugged and required a game reboot (atleast for me). I still play Diablo II and now my birthday week just got better, Blizzard doing the good deed.

Is there any point in exhausting each area for XP e.g. hitting the The Hole or doing all the tombs prior to Duriel...or is it more efficient to blast through the game as quickly as possible from a map progression perspective to level up?

I think it's a tradeoff between efficiency and fun. If you run through all the areas, it's a bit more fun and satisfying to kill different monsters in different areas while leveling up but very time consuming. Compared to that, if you do Eldritch runs you can get XP real fast but you will need a lot of runs in it and can get mind numbingly repetitive. I guess the same goes for MFing like going through an entire Baal run which takes more time but feels better to play and best possible drops compared to running Pindleskin which is way easier and very quick but you will need a much more significant number of runs for it.

You get more xp from boss packs, and some other specific creatures like lightning beetles from act 2, so you usually will try to aim for things like those and reset your game to farm them. For each difficulty you need a certain level to do ancients (the 3 barbs in act v), which are 20, 40, and 60 for normal nightmare and hell. So if your only goal is to get to hell baal then speed runners will just keep close to the required level, stopping for boss packs sometimes for easy xp. If you just wanna farm items then figure out what items your want and what mob level they drop from and farm those areas.

So basically you run to countess in act 1, spam her till you get all your runes/level13ish, (some people will do den of evil for the free skill point and level3) then just go straight through main quests till you get to act v, killing boss packs and high xp groups of mobs, skipping everything else. For nightmare I like to run through to act 3 and then do Serena runs till 40, then in act v I'll do eldritch till 50ish, then I'll run into hell and just skip everything except main story quests till act 5 again and finish off to 60-64 and some gold for pots on hell eldritch before I head to hell baal. The higher level you are the easier time you'll have but it takes time so it's up to preferences from there. Some side quests give good bonuses like skill points, attributes, and +20 life, so those are worth doing if they aren't too out of the way and you need some more damage/life

I always said soj as sOge (capital O, ge as in sarge), "a soj". And others say "an soj". We both know what we are talking about. Some more abbreviations are NK = naked kill, Meph = Mephisto, D or Big D for Diablo, ubers for Uber Tristram, Uber D for Uber Diablo, Key runs means farming for the three Keys. Andariel is Andy, Souls is any sort of "souls" monsters that shoot lightning at you and are very dangerous. Dolls means the very dangerous stygian dolls, and other monsters of that type. Both monster types are usually avoided if possible. TP also can mean "take my tp". A "Hot" tp you don't want to go into. It's an exit only TP. So if you see "hot", then a portal opens and the character pops out covered in poison, don't go in there. GD means Good Duel, GF means Good Fight if you are talking in duels, but Gold Find if you are talking about an MF build, BvB means barb vs barb (barbs only), also barb means Barbarian too (you covered baba), ZvA means AmaZon v Assassin, etc. Great video!

Remember that when you have BO you will attract monsters from further away especially bog monsters in act 3 and you need some DEO to reduce that.

Is the term "OS" backported from POE or something? I've never heard anybody use that up until recently. It's always just been "S" for sockets. I mean it's not like someone would run around with a 3S AP with Jah and Ith in it and then trade it away as "1OS AP". What I'm saying is it's always the total number of sockets that is interesting, not the number of open ones.

People will often type "h" or "here" in chat when you're running through a place like the act II deserts or some of the dungeons to let the others know that they found the stairs or way forward. "h" is fairly common because they can say it the instant they find it and then can keep on running into the next area without really stopping.

Rushing is also sometimes called "taxi"... also any item with "perf" in front of it, means player is either offering top roll item, or at least one of most important item stats is rolled to max. Like "Perf CTA" would be 6/6/4, but some players would call 6/6/3 or 6/5/4 a perf CTA. It's probably less common, because its more clear to write down 141d shako (not that these 43 points of def in shako matter a lot). Anyways "perf" might show up next to item... "perf anni" etc. And as ladder goes by, prices of items go down as there are more of them, and "perf" items begin to be worth even more as there are always players looking for max possible stats...

Hello, I was wandering if there were any guides for gear while lvling. For example for the sorcerer, where could I check which item is best at what lvl and what is an actual upgrade? Is there any gear progression guides for specific builds?

The main thing you want for a caster class is + to skills, faster cast rate(FCR), and resistances. In that order, so for a sorceress a good orb with +1 or +2 to sorceress skills, bonus if it also has +x to a couple skills you're using. Ie a good fire sorceress orb might have +1 to sorceress skills (or +1 to fire skills) and maybe +2 to fireball, +1 to warmth, and +2 to fire bolt. Outside that any gear is good if it gives FCR (keeping breakpoints in mind) and resistances. As sorceress orbs are rare and can't be bought or gambled you'll do fine with a staff instead though you will lose a bit of resistance from not being able to use a shield, however better + to skills is preferable to having a shield. My cold sorceress who just beat normal still has a staff she bought in act 2 and due to charms and other gear she still has max resistance across the board even without a shield.

@@Slokingseba no problem, I've been playing D2 for ages and I've made loads of mistakes, I like to share what I know. Also in general faster walk/run is good on any character. Stealth(rune word with Tal + Eth) is the best body armor for normal/early nightmare. difficulty

EBUG - eth bugged armor (using cube formula to add sockets to non-superior eth gear) +50% defense, usually for Fortitude or Duress merc armor, also Exile shield for Pally Boo plz - recast your barbarian buffs Walk, or Act 2 Walk for example - (don't rush with higher character) GG trades - godly gear/game over gear, usually talking about best in slot items with perfect stats. Chant/Enchant plz- using a high level fire sorc to buff lower characters, usually in a form of a bot game 5 Nado - the elusive +2 skill +3 tornado rare druid helm, same applies to pretty much every yellow class item for the desired +5 skill, I believe magic version goes to 6-7 20/2 gloves - amazons and assassins might be looking for +20% attack speed, +2 to bow/javelin,+2martial arts trade for socket - someone wants to trade for your Larzuk's quest reward, often Ist if not high rune rush for rush - I rush you, you rush me

Adding to the already fantastic list - at least in my head - comes a bunch of PvP-specific lingo as well. Regarding the value of life/damage/ar small charms and specific gear, be it the "4s 9x life archon", the "3/17/20" or the very old "CCBoQ/CCSoQ/CCBoE/CCSoE" standing for "Cruel Colossus Sword/Blade of Quickness/Evisceration". But that's mainly true for myself as an avid(!) 1.09 PvP player. With the introduction of BotD, those Swords crafted via the chipped gem recipe sadly lost a lot of it's value. But you always knew you were up against one of "ye olden guys" when you saw a Barb running around with a pitch black (evisceration) or golden (quickness) sword.

On rush 4 forge, let the rusher grab w/e they want and only grab the leftovers after they run off to Diablo/A5(depending where you did it) I doubt muling will highly be used in D2R with the shared stashes thanks for the refresher on this, I never knew the 1/2 thing for safe/not safe

Brilliant video Llama as always. I did want to add, in the form of a question. Why all these funny colloquialisms? Why has the community gone to these lengths to create lingo. It is because of the tiny tiny amount of characters in the game creation screen. Also people will say "for script" that means check the description because they had more available characters there to detail a desired trade. Its not uncommon to see a trade lobby (game) that looks like total gibberish: "iso eth andy's", "soj 4 script", "4os eth bug AP ft"... and so it goes.

In EU we use "read" to refer to the discription. And if I remember correctly, skillers are shortened to SK. E.g. cb sk = combat skiller Also chaos sanc are just diaruns. As well as diabaalruns. Or dbrun

Is shako pronounced “shake oh” or “shack oh”. Oddly always used the second since diablo 2 first introduced it.
