This is not a maf based car, yes it has a maf but honda is not stupid, it has a map sensor as the main air measurement method, the fact that you are a tuning company and dont know this is worrying.
@EdgeAutosport8 ай бұрын
It's been a while since we've done this video so I don't know exactly what was said or what you're referring to. But a car doesn't have a MAF sensor for fun. It's being used to measure airflow which is also why you have to recalibrate the sensor with a bigger MAF housing. Without recalibration of the MAF, fuel trims will swing wildly and cause poor drivability during closed loop operation and overly lean or rich conditions during open loop operations. That alone means the contribution of the MAF to the calibration is not only significant, but necessary. It's working all the time. Also, on the 1.5T, there isn't a pressure model for speed density or MAP/RPM based fueling available in the tuning software from either Hondata or Ktuner. The only means for calibrating fuel is based off the MAF sensor. The FK8 has a speed density model that is used in the background and is available for alteration in the software, and I would imagine the 1.5T does too, but it seems Hondata did not deem it necessary to provide access to it on the 1.5T because on this particular engine, the MAF is the primary means of measuring airflow.

I really like the BOV sound so I am gonna try out the XS 50/50 even is it is quieter than Torque Solutions is fine because yea the Torque Solutions sound plate gives of a loud PHSST!! between shifts and I did not see any boost leakage running a tune up to 20 PSI. It think my issues were more with metered air all being vented to atmo.

@@ryanboris6978 If you want a good BOV sound for your Civic I would go with the TurboXS Hybrid BV. I installed that and have had 0 Issues. You get the same quality sound as the plate but it still lets most of the boost recirculate so its not gonna trip any codes. Honestly If you want to keep using the sound plate it probably will not cause serious harm to the engine or Turbo but the engine does not like it sometimes and is expecting the access boost to be recirculated so the ECU might freak out a little and adjust fuel trims and other parameters to compensate for what it sees as an abnormal condition.

@DmanGuitar3274 жыл бұрын
So the red adapter plate. Is that a 100% vent to atmosphere or does it recirculate a little bit since its retaining oem bypass valve? So many ppl saying its bad, but during the shift you are at 0% throttle.. so i dont see it melting cylinder walls like people think it will.. as for the cat, once you put an exhaust on the cat wont be there.. also if you change oil every 5000km, how could there be an issue?
@EdgeAutosport4 жыл бұрын
The adapter plate is 100% VTA. I would lean towards agreeing with your thoughts. Let's just say that turbo platforms with MAF sensors have been running VTA valves for a LONG time now and although the fact that it's not ideal has always been the case, it just hasn't been a big deal across platforms, overall. Go for it. As far as changing the oil goes, if there actually was fuel in the oil, it could get bad pretty quickly. Bearings are very sensitive and if the lubricant they need is a little off from being able to do it's job, it's not good. That being said, I just can't imagine a mass amount of cars are suffering, even modified. But that's just my guess. Honda has even stated the fuel dilution problem is so rare, but they are applying their fix to all qualifying owners to give them piece of mind.
@DmanGuitar3274 жыл бұрын
@@EdgeAutosport can you give me a link on where you said honda is giving affected owners a fix for peace of mind? Claims make no sense.. because your 100% off throttle when shifting.. so the motor is under 0 load , so how would it enriching for a split second do anything other than hurt the cat which shouldnt be there anyway.. were talking minuute amounts of extra fuel,stock injectors only squirt a small amount to begin with. So long term i doubt it would wash out a cylinder or a anything.. ive never worried about afr before.. Car is 2018 si so i believe it suffers from that.. any modification untuned will throw air/fuel off.. even an intake.. what if the intake allows so much air that the MAF can only provide a certain reading giving the most fuel .. in that case youd need to probably delete the maf sensor through a tune ? Then it would be getting correct fuel for the more air coming in ..

@EdgeAutosport5 жыл бұрын
A valve should not affect the AFRs that the car is running while in gear and under load, as long as it's working properly. There will be a rich spot in between shifts but we have not found that to be a huge problem on other cars we've worked with. It causes pops and bangs at times but it's not that big of a deal in our opinion. It's technically not the proper way to run your valve, but some people like noises, so they get stuff that makes noise.
@darkknight0974 жыл бұрын
Yeah, a bov is bad for these cars because what we have is a recirculating valve. When you change that to a bov, the ECU will be expecting air that will no longer be there cause it's being vented to atmosphere, throwing off the air fuel ratio. Short term, you wont notice it but long term it will have bad affects. If you go to civicx.com, this is documented with dozens of different SI owners. Even Boomba themselves stopped advertising that bov on the civicx and instead started advertising their recirculating valve.

@benitoloco8992 жыл бұрын
If you're running a vehicle without a catalytic converter (or cat in layman terms) in the exhaust, you might as well be asking for a check engine light and a serious/ catastrophic failure in the engine. Catalytic converters provide a basic/ vital function in the engine's exhaust to optimize fuel trim and reduce greenhouse emissions. I'm almost positive the 10th gen Civics have their cats as part of a one piece assembly with the cylinder head on the engine, making removal a bit useless and unnecessary.

Kris Menon is the boomba just as loud bro?
@krismenon80715 жыл бұрын
Caseys_si I have the full recirc valve so it’s pretty much the same as stock unless you have an intake. The book a boy will be loud if that’s what you want. But it’ll make the car run rich.

Jaren Holmes you’ll hear it a tiny bit more because of the intake. Can’t really hear it outside the car.

It's the way to go on all turbo cars. But it's not a crime to make some noise, nor will it burn your car down to the ground.

@justinmarks28933 жыл бұрын
No, the non Si versions aren’t turbo charged. therefore, they won’t be compatible with the base engine.

Actually, many of the non-Si version have the same base 1.5 turbo engine. Yes, these all fit on the non-Si 1.5t models.
