Even the Danish national sport is to complain about taxes. However, if Danes were given the choice to pay low taxes and not having access to free Healthcare and education, they would say no. The taxes are there to finance the systems that make Denmark the country it is where most people are not selfish and all people get equal opportunities if they have the will and the drive to explore the possibilities. I come from a typical worker family. I started running with newspaper at age 13 and have never been unemployed. I went all the way with education, has never taken a loan in my life, worked during weekend during my education to earn extra money. I did graduate within a field of work where there were more opportunities abroad so I have lived in various places around the world since 1991 and have lived in Singapore since 2008. We still go to Denmark as often as we can (not since February 2020 though) and we may return some day if possible. You really first start to appreciate Denmark as a Dane when you have experienced to live outside Denmark.

the 60% tax is somewhat correct, but, but.... The first DKK 46,000 you earn are tax free If you earn above that amount (and you do!) you pay 27-42%, depending on the municipality you live in If you earn more than DKK 531,000 you will pay 60% tax on the amount ABOVE DKK 531,000 Then there's a lot of different deductions, eg. single parents ( DKK 23.400), tranport to work, spending money on home improvent and more tricky ones BUT with the money we've got left to spend, we pay 25% VAT And we're happy with that! Except the ones paying theTop-tax, but the've got oney enough, so who cares?
@rasmusklitgaard36483 жыл бұрын
Unfortunatly the max 60% tax rate is a thing of the past. People clearly not aware of it though. The max progressive tax, including top tax is in 2021 52,06% because of the "skrå skatteloft". Neoliberalistic economic thought are working "wonders" in Denmark too. From a max of 73% in 1983-6 its decreased ever since. If you wonder why the nurses and daycare workers are overworked and understaffed. The reason might be different than what the majority of danes seems to think the reason is. www.skm.dk/skattetal/satser/skattehistorik/skraat-skatteloft-en-historisk-oversigt/

There are many pros for someone to move to Denmark, but i have to disagree a bit about the security, and criminality rate. If you walk around it's safe almost, safer than most western countries, but it's a bit trickier if you want to park your vehicle, especially motorcycle in a public road. In copenhagen, avoid parking in dark spots in places like Christiania or Amager island. Use a heavy chain to lock the wheels, and park on central areas i suggest. You can use kaskoforsikring that include theft, but it's very expensive insurance. My motorcycle got stolen, found it 10 days later in Christiania and then 1 month later, they attempted to steal it again with no success. Also beware of scams that are accosiated with internet frauds and don't give home lease deposits if they denied to show you the place in person at least.

Please don't move to Denmark unless you do your research. You should not just want to live here for selfish reasons, you should want to become a citizen and love the country as if you were native born. Respecting the culture, learning the history and language and everything else that comes with it. Most importantly, you should want to adopt the identity of being a *Dane* . If that's too much of a challenge for you, please just visit as a tourist. Otherwise? We'll welcome you with open arms. But It is not easy, I see so many people in the comments talk about their naive dreams of moving here as if that's just a fun thing to do, it is serious work.
