I think as more and more obsidian flames was opened the prices just dropped per usual. Some sets with a lower supply like evolving skies saw the prices remain high for the cards. Just the way the market is unfortunately.

Happens to every set as more people open them and the pull populations rise. This is why if you have any interest in collecting slabs the best time to get them graded is about a year after the set release. This will be around the lowest value the cards ever have as they are modern and have a decent population. That means grading them is cheaper per card. Anything $199 or less is $15/card. In contrast, if you're grading a vintage card with a potential price tag of $20,000 you have to pay $1,000. A card worth $40,000 will cost you $2,000 to grade, and a card worth $50k will be $3,000. Just as a recent example Giratina V Alt Art from Lost Origin (Sept 2022) is already going for ~$650 in PSA 10 so grading it would cost $75 to grade if PSA 10, $25 if PSA 9 or below. You can always roll the dice that it will be 9 or lower and pay that price, but if they grade it a 10 they will hold the card until you pay the remaining $50. However, being that the card has a pull rate of 1/720 and is still worth that much a year later you can expect that card to be a $2,000+ card in 5 or so years at which point the cost to grade it would double.
