The four cam 4.6 litre engines were some of my favorite for sound and performance. Coupled with a T5, it’s a good time.

Absolutely 💯 I have 2 Lincoln Mark VIII's a 97 and 98 with the 4.6l 32v and they are great cars, I removed the Cats and ran straight pipes back to Flowmaster Outlaws and they sound nasty and pissed off the Mark VIII were the first with the "Cobra" engine in 93' originally called Intech and later adopted by the mustang ,one of the best Ford engines ever built great cars and very fun .

You have errors in your information,, serious errors. The small Triton was,is the 4.6 liter V8 a truly excellent engine. Low speed, excellent mpg, 300 thousand mile engine if you change to oil and keep up the maintenance. The 4.2 liter for the years you mention is a V6 and in the 2000 to 2009 the 4.2 liter 6 is also an excellent long life engine. In BOTH cases, these are not the 4 valve race car Mustang versions These are the simple small 8 and 6. You want to rev them high and make them scream,,, they are not built for that. You want to put a ton in the bed of the half ton truck and drive from Albany to LA, and back at 70mph,, that is the right truck and engine. I stopped at 4:14 with that much bad info on engines that I know and have owned,, not worth my time to watch any more.

I agree with you, I stopped at 4:28 myself. I have a 4.6 V8 with 302,000 miles on it & still running strong, "2005 Crown Victoria P71" I also have a 2008 F150 that has the 4.2 V6 with a 5 speed manual that has well over 200,000 miles on it, & it stays loaded with tools while pulling a 8X12 trailer.

I had a 97 F150 with the 4.2 V6. I don't think it could spin a tire in an oil slick. The second time the intake gasket failed, I traded it in with only 122K on it. Bad engine.

This is so full of bad information. 4.2 V8 was not used in those years. Are you talking the V6 or 4.6 V8? Also the 5.4 was dead solid unless specifically talking about the 3 valve, which you did not

I disagree with the 3.5 ecoboost assessment. Sure, it had some problems, but no where near enough to make a worst engines list. Even Toyota, famous for reliable engines has a much worse engine than the 3.5 ecoboost in their new Tundra trucks, with engine failures becoming common.

A few months back I traded a ‘92 mustang roller for an ‘84 SVO that was parked next to a barn back in 2001. It’s rough but it’s all there and I only paid $300 for the roller close to 10 years ago. I bought five foxbodys years back, I never paid more than $1000 each and I just put them aside thinking they’d increase in value. I particularly have a thing for t-top cars.

I have a econoline with 268.000 miles ,5.4 , 1998 2 valve ,. I have blown 3 plugs . but overall a good engine . The 3 valve 5.4 was a piece of crap 2004 - 2008 . I actually blame government for change fuel; mileage standards and pollution controls . They have to reengineer their engines in a hurry , and make them more complex , more problems.

You're out of date and not fully right. The first gen 3.5L ecoboost was known for those problems, but it was the cam phasers that caused the problems. The second gen solved at least the carbon build up in the intake by having it has a multi port injection system. You forgot about the 1.0L ecoboost. That's been having issues for a while now with no solution insight.

All the negative talk about 5.4 3v engines is silly. Been blown way out of proportion. We have 3. All with over 175,000 miles. One with 240,000. Never had an issue with any of them. Change my own plugs. Never had any issues. Mechanics are crybabies any time they have to actually earn their money.

@andrewb9708
@andrewb9708 13 сағат бұрын
It actually was a Ford engineering problem. Ford used Motorcraft Gold Coolant which is the source of most 6.0 issues. The International VT365 didn't have as many issues, but still had injector problems.
@mrdluna84
@mrdluna84 Күн бұрын
All I got from this video is- EPA made Ford struggle to keep up with their demands and Ford engines are junk if you don't do proper maintenance... 6.4 is junk. But with proper maintenance the 6.0 is a great engine. The 5.4 was a very reliable engine when properly maintained which includes using a torque wrench so you don't strip the spark plugs. Trash video spreading false and weak claims.

At time 9.49 there is a picture of a bunch of non-Ford cars. Why is this in a video about bad Ford engines? I own a Nissan Frontier (left center picture) and its non-turbocharged, naturally aspirated engine has been fine for 105,000 miles.

I find this whole video crock of shit, it was a 4.6 not a 4.2 as stated by many below the two engines offered in them years were the 5.4 and 4.6. Also your showing the wrong year vehicles while talking about the engines that were in them. Showing a 1993 clypso green foxbody while talking about a 3.8 v6 is just plain stupid becuse that turd motor wasent even available until 1994 in the sn 95 body style. And the biggest problem with them was in the super coupe thunderbird becuse boost pressure and expansion rates don't mix. Most factory 3.8 non supercharged were just fine though they lack performance. Moving foward the later year 4.6 and 5.4 with the p.i. or performance improvement had issues with the cheap ass plastic intakes litteraly cracking.keep in mind with anything if it isn't maintained the results will show.
