The thing about railguns is that they fire sabots. Metal rods meant to liquify on impact this turning into superheated liquid metal shrapnel When Abrams crews started using them against kamikaze cars in the Middle East, they reported that sabots would penetrate the vehicle (with minimal damage mind you), and since the sabot did what sabots do, they could literally *wash the remains out with a hose* Now apply that to a railgun. A *T’au* railgun. Imagine inspecting the aftermath of a Baneblade, walking through the corridors without finding anything out of the ordinary, until you find the driver’s compartment. A relatively small impact hole is visible in the hull, but the driver is just a red paste

@@weshammer From my own personal experience, early design Soviet fighters are Ork design, :-). If you try flight sims, stay away from DCS World. You seriously need to be an actual pilot to fly anything advanced, lol! Anyway, back to under Terra. The novel Wolfblade has several chapters that paint a pretty grim (yes, even for WH40K) picture of some of the lower levels of Terra. Mutated wildlife, people.....functioning factories, oh, and everyone down there still has to pay rent!

Absolutely not. I want the leman russ to remain the boxy slice of heaven that it is. It is already the best looking tank in the game. The imperial guard need a no frills tank. It doesn't need a sleek look or anything special. Giving the guard fancy looking stuff takes away their identity. They're supposed to be men and women using old gear and getting the job done against the Lovecraftian horrors of the 41st millennium.

"Anyone who says they don't like the Orks is either lying, or they hate fun" - as a Necron player who adores my shiny, regimented, purely mechanical metal boys, I can't deny that the Orks basically going "It works because Mekboy sez it works" is hilarious. It's such a funny idea that amidst this rush of battlefield development from so many races, with the Tau making new tech, the warriors of Chaos discovering new ways to terrify and enthrall humanity, even the Tyranids learning infiltration via Genestealer cults and Humanity scrambling to recover the sacred STCs, you have the Orks vaguely hammering together bits of metal and saying "Yep, that'll work."

Honestly, I would have excluded the hammerhead for all chimera variants. It is the true workhorse of the imperial guard. You've got basic chimeras to transport troops. It comes with manticore, basilisk, wyvern, and medusa attachments provide indirect fire support. It can be equipped with meltas, flamers or chemical cannons to deal with various threats. It even can be a platform to launch nukes.

I mean if you wanted to include insane tanks of warhammer 40k you can talk about the Capital Imperialis, A super heavy tank several times bigger than a baneblade that are used as mobile command centers and beachheads. they are the size of city blocks, crush the terrain they drive over, and usually have battallions of soldiers around or inside them. Only like...2 are ever shown in novels(both in the gaunts ghost books) and they were only ever sculpted in epic.

My personal favoite tank in 40k is the Imperial Guards Basilisk. For a lot of the same reasons the leman russ in mentioned. There's a kind of brutish elegance in its crude design where what you see is exactly what you get. The Basilisk is a giant gun on wheels. It looks like an awesome artillery canon, it is an awesome artillery canon. If they scaled its lore range to the table top it would be able to fire over 50 ft.

I was really expecting to see the Skorpius in there. One of the only remaining instances of Imperium anti-grav technology, held in exclusive use by the Adeptus Mechanicus. Cauldron of Blood: Mainly because of its cool look and design. It's a sort of flamethrower tank from Khorne, but instead of flames, it hurls demon blood that is said to be able to reduce entire buildings to rubble. Blood Reaper: Also a demon machine from Khorne, it's pretty ugly but can match the firepower of Titans. It's armed with four turret cannons and the two heavier skull cannons, and has a scythe in front of it - of course it does; it's a demon machine of Khorne, what did you expect? Drukhari Ravager: Also capable of killing Titans, at least if he doesn't get hit, because its armor is a joke. In return, it is incredibly fast and can use Dark Lances against its opponents, as well as serve as a means of transportation. Doomsday Monolith: Although it may be a bit of a stretch to call it a tank, I consider it the most iconic vehicle of W40k. Like normal Monoliths, it has a Gauss Obliterator, an extremely powerful weapon that resembles an oversized particle whip and can vaporize entire armies. Also, 4 Gauss Flux Arcs that similar to Necron Gauss Rifles but firing in arcs and can vaporize the entire near vicinity of the Monolith. Last but not least, it has an Eternity Gate that can either transport Necrons or, when used as a weapon, suck in everything in the vicinity of the Monolith and teleport it to a locked prison dimension, which means instant death for anything living. Now, with all of these incredible weapons, one might wonder what the difference is with a Monolith? It has a powerful phase shift generator that gives the Doomsday Monolith extra defensive protection by shifting it slightly out of phase with the normal flow of space-time.

Also the Baneblade during AOT may different, the technology to make the armor may lead to the armor lighter while maintain the same effectiveness, better engine that can output more HP and received decent maintenance unlike those be started and maintain by preying, lighting incense and sacrifice.

For all their intricacy a Doomsday Barge is just not as impressive as a (well painted) Monolith. Yeah the ringpop gem on the old one was a bit silly, but when an opponent put one on the table it was an 'Oh, crap.' moment second only to an actual Baneblade showing up.

If I where an Eldar or a Tau forget making fun of the fact the imperium still uses tank treads, I'd be laughing my ass off at the fact that they can't even be bothered to put proper turrets on most of there tanks... The thing about orks is that you could essentially use any vehicle or model even outside of 40K and convert them into ork vehicle for example a tau hammerhead with an ork jammed into its cockpit an at-rt from Star Wars

Innovation is heresy. Someone designing something new isn't the omnissiahs will (unless it's cawl who just kind of says "f**k the omnissiah") so new designs don't come around often. Chaos are limited by lack of resources and their own infighting so whilst they have a few fancy bits of kit, they can't churn them out like they could with a STC and forge world.

Is there a reason the Baneblade’s main gun only has an effective range of 1km? Today’s modern main guns can accurately hit at 4km. Was there a tabletop reason for it?

I think a lot of the strange numerical figures that games workshop has in its lore are due to the tabletop game existing. It's like when they changed emperor class Titans to being around 55 m tall, rather than a mile tall. There's no way they could produce a model like that for the game as the scaling would just be ridiculous so they scaled it back down to something they could theoretically produce. I think it's kind of the same with weapon ranges, That's just me guesstimating though. Realistically in the novels I would say the bainblade can fire much farther than that.

well they had nanobots that scowered planets of all life and could pull continents off planets, they had guns that shot black holes, shot backwards in time, had the men of iron, built all the stc, had living flame that even the méchanicum were like "fuck that *presses delete*), ships that were like corvets but could timetravel and cut trough imperium ships like butter while having ai. They could ceep people alive seemingly forever, thats off the top of my head atleast. Oh then there were tohose self replecating giant robot things.
