I used to bike, at 50 years I need to start again; slowly. A smile a day.

Thank you for another useful video. Btw, this week I used your technique for removing rust with crunched up aluminum foil and it was great!! Amazingly easy. Thank you!!!

The multi-tools never have all the tools I need. My kit is almost the same as yours and it is good to hear from someone who obviously cycles. The only difference from my kit is that I have a pair of locking pliers and a spoke key which has been useful when spokes have broken on longer rides or wheels need straightening.

Great video! I like a smaller/lighter variable wrench, but yes, definitely an essential tool especially if you want to help other people with their bikes. KMC Missing Links in a couple of different sizes take up almost no space and weigh almost nothing but make chain repairs a cinch - probably shouldn't be pushing pins back in on most modern chains which is what you'll likely find on other people's bikes. Definitely a pump instead of CO2 but take a look at options with a little hose between the cylinder and the chuck - much, MUCH easier to use as they can be operated like a miniature floor pump and the user is far less likely to damage the valve. I use patches with vulcanizing fluid on tubes I repair at home. I carry patches along with tubes but I carry the self-adhesive patches. Much faster since there's no waiting for vulcanizing fluid to dry and I can peel them off and replace them at home for a better permanent patch later. I prefer disposable nitrile gloves and keep all my stuff inside retired socks which then double as towels to wipe off me and the bike as needed. Finally, it's amazing how useful a bit of string and some plastic zip-ties can be! Fender mount fell off? Your bungies aren't quite holding the load on your rack? Voila!

I always carry a small pack of baby wipes. They clean your hands super well, and you can also use them to wipe the dirtier parts on the bike before doing the road side repair.

Good tips, except the work gloves. Bit excessive, bulky too.

I didn't used to think they were essential either until I had my chain break on the way to work one morning. The repair resulted in a lot of grease on my fingers which ultimately got transferred onto the door handles, elevator buttons and key card system between where I park my bike and the inside of my office. I normally don't wear gloves when doing repairs, but under that particular circumstance they would have been a great idea.

I hate to get my hands smeared in grease when something in my bike goes wrong. I also have work gloves on my portable bike kit tool.

Do yourself a favor and get some inexpensive mechanics gloves or at least some form fitting work gloves with rubber coated palms. Much easier to work in than loose fitting gardening gloves.
